I found out by laying the cover on a glass surface that it was not perfectly flat, but close. Spent a hour sanding it down with 150 sandpaper. So do I need sealant on both metal surfaces?

I believe this is my last question. Do I need to put sealant on both metal surfaces, with the gasket in between?

Is it vital that it be a pre made part as you have listed or can I use my own automotive gasket material?

Tartan wouldn't be original to my car, as it was tweed and twill. Nice interior though.

I have some automotive gasket material and I was wondering if it is necessary to purchase a gasket made specifically for Porsche or am I okay with the generic material.
I have some Loctite 574 as sealant -

I have original 76 seats with the tweed euro seats. The rear were black. The area stored in one of my warehouses. I'll see if I can get to them without to much difficulty.

From a reliable source I was told; Take a 1976 912E for references on what your interior looked like as the interiors were basically the same between the 912E and our Carreras. In fact, they shared the identical carpet. The carpets, for instance, aren't available anywhere but you can get them out of a 912E. If you were to ever consider restoring your car back to exactly how it left the factory I'd highly recommend buying a 912E, swapping, and selling the 912E. The driver's seats with the tweed inlays and twill bolsters since those would be very rareMine has the interior code 33:Cinnamon Leatherette, Tweed Seat Inlays, Twill Side Bolsters, Twill Headrests.
