  1. Can anyone tell me where I can get a spring perch for an Gemballa adjustable coil-over system or if a spring perch from a different coil-over set up would fit? Thanks for any info
  2. After 9 months I wish I had saved the money and just had the bumper / hood touched up as needed. I have the thinnest one (5 mm?) & some rock chips do show - a couple larger ones made it through to the paint. The thicker one protects better but costs more and is more obvious.
  3. FYI - For anyone having trouble with the K&N 6300 series - Like others I lost power & then threw a CEL/ABS/PMS light after ~ 500 miles on the CAI. They volunteered to test the MAF & I just heard from the engineer @ K&N. Evidently a "delamination" occurred on one of the tiny wires inside the MAF, which caused it to fail. The wire is coated in chrome and for some unexplained reason the chrome has come off. They still don't know why this happened & are trying to get it covered under warranty. They are putting my MAF into their test car to see if they get the same lights.
  4. Papi I sent my MAF to K&N for testing. The engineer of the 63 series has been helpful thus far & says K&N will not leave anyone hanging. As you suggest, too much oil is probably not the problem (see the link). I was about to buy a dry filter & the engineer told me to save my money. If you haven't spoken with them yet, you might want to report the problem - 951-826-4000. He also said the engineers do read these forums for product info., but don't respond because it would create a feeding frenzy. I'll send him this link. http://www.knfilters.com/MAF/massair.htm
  5. I couldn't find an acceptable location, so I got a new H/U with sirius built in - pioneer & clarion make good units. Had to put antenna on the upper far right corner of dash, just below windshield. I wanted it out of site, but everywhere else disrupted reception. I have a cab so my choices were limited, but I've seen a couple coupe owners use the rear deck. You may want to search the 6speed site for more ideas.
  6. I spoke with one of the engineers of the 63 series at K&N yesterday and he offered to test/replace my MAF. Overnighted each way so only a two day process. He was very helpful and said K&N will not leave any customers hanging. BTW - I found it interesting he said they read the K&N related threads on these forums.
  7. I spoke to soon. On way to work today I got the PSM & ABS lights and then shortly after the CEL. I'm sure this is due to the K&N and will probably take it off. Is it worth trying a dry filter & new MAS? http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/show...age=1&pp=15
  8. Mdillian - were you able to fix the problem or do you end up returning the K&N?. I just got my 1st cel after a month.
  9. After 500+ miles mines been perfect (knock, knock). During install I had MAF in backwards and car kept stalling - turned it around it ran fine. I left the sock/cover over the filter to keep things cleaner....I don't know if that makes any difference?
  10. Izzy Fabspeed kit no longer removes resonater - kit now contains a Silicone tube + red plastic cap + sticker for $229, making it the same as the $99 Schnell kit. The original Fabspeed kit removed the internal muffler / resonance cavity from within the air box and mesh screen before the MAF sensor with a “muffler block off elimination plate.” Since installing the new Fabspeed kit, I have been debating doing the same modification you've done but since the airbox is capped off, I don't know what it would accomplish, other then increasing post filtered air volume. I'd like to know why Fabspeed changed their kit.
  11. I put a small clamp around the cap on my fabspeed kit because I was afraid of this very problem.
  12. Hi After a 15 minute drive the headlights on my MY01 C4 with 11,000 miles started flickering and then some smoke comes out from right in between the dash cowl and driver side dash speaker, accompianed by a nasty electrical smell. I shut the car down immediately and the smoke continued for about 10 seconds and stoped. I waited a few minutes and finished the drive to my girlfriends with no more problems. A couple hours later I had to started the car and the same thing happened, so I shut it down again and it stoped. I waited a bit and then drove home with no problems. At home I pulled the front speaker and looked around and couldn't find any signs of an electrical problem - melted wires, etc. With the speaker out, I started car again hoping to see the source, but no more smoke. The most logical explanation is a couple days ago I switched out the upper console for a body color matching one, and had unplugged the toggle connections in the middle of the dash along with the upgraded stereo system I had put in a month ago. If something was shorting out from the center console area could or would the smoke escape from the area behind the front cowl and also cause the headlights to flicker or is this probably something totally unrealted to my new upper console? Sorry this is so long but I wanted to give all possible pertanent info because I know nothing about electrical issues except they scare the crap out of me. Thanks in advance for any advice and for taking the time to read this. MJ
  13. Eic can do your consoles, ac vents, door pulls, gauge cluster, hazard & ignition surrounds, etc. in alumi-look and it would be sharp with a black interior. I just had him do my upper & lower consoles in Lapis blue to match my exterior and I love it. I looked at carbon fiber and actual aluminum and decided painting was the best bang for the buck.
  14. Thanks Izzy. I used weather stripping and covered most of the metal on metal and eliminated about 70% of the God-forsaken squeaking. Hopefully the jelly will cure the rest.
  15. Hello, After years of lesser sports cars, I finally stepped up and purchased my 1st 911. A 2001, Lapis blue, C4 cab., manuel with 7,700 miles, Gemballa exhaust & suspension and 18 in. Fikse wheels. The crappy pictures I’ve attached don’t do the car justice. After much research I’m already upgrading the interior, stereo, and getting an SSK, clear bra and obligatory clear side markers. I can’t wait to keep discovering new things about these cars. I’m looking for some opinions/suggestions on two quick questions - I keep vacillating about my feelings for the Fikse FM/10 wheels & wondering what might be worth if I decide to get different ones? My cab top is squeaking horribly - can anyone please tell me how to make it stop? Thanks in advance MJ
