    Lee, sorry to hear it, it was quite a lengthly process for mine to get resolved. I will say, the delaer actually put the car back together quite well! I've also had a slew of small issues like yourself. The steering fault was the first time my Cayenne left me stranded. I've owned my '04 since early 2005 (bought it new). Good luck to you! Jeff

    Ok so yesterday Porsche just released new technical information, it is now possible to update an 04 Cayenne with the MY08 maps but you need a different kit. The part number for the update is 000.044.901.21. You need to have PCM 2 with software version 3.0 to use this. Has anyone with an '04 tried this update? I wonder what's the cost and if the update is really worth it? Any idea?

    Steering Faulty Search the forum, I had the exact same issue.

    I believe it should be pre-wired for the rear CD changer on the 2006 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S. Mine was ('04 S), it's just a pain to get at the left side bolts when attaching the changer to the bracket (bracket was already there too). Make sure the fibre plugs are correct and the install should be plug-n-play. Good luck!

    Thanks for that, too late however. Why wouldn't Porshce Roadside make me aware of that? or make sure the tow truck operators they contract with know about that transmission release procedure!? Well, the dealer finally finished my Cayenne, the entire steering column was replaced along with some other sensors. They also noticed 2 'nicked' wires once they had the column out. They fixed them too. The cats had to come off the car during replacing the column. Man, what a pain, they ripped my car apart! Service guy said they had 17man hrs of labor in this fix. They had the car for 6 business days! It's all buttoned up now and they had it detailed for me (for my troubles, big deal). So far, one complaint, the center console seems slightly loose. I'm gonna wait to see what else they eff'd up before I take it back.

    Lastest update from the dealer is a complete steering wheel column replacement! That astounds me that the entire unit needs replacing? when is sounds like just electronic parts have failed. I could still use the buttons to adjust the wheel up/down or in and out. Is it that integrated? The flatbed was able to get right up to the rear wheels, one side rolled while the other side kinda slipped/hopped. I don't know either. Then I told them I want the car kept in their garage and they have the audacity to tell me they have NO WAY to move it! I really can't stand this dealer (Cherry Hill Imports, NJ) and if I had a closer one I'd obviously try them. They recently stopped giving loaners, now I get these cheap rentals from Avis! They are driving away customers!

    Driving home from the office the other day, I stop at the pool store for some chemicals. I'm not in the store more than 5mins, come back out and cannot start the car! Immediately after putting in the key, an alert appears on the dash - "STEERING FAULTY" and beeps. That's it, nothing else will even turn on, not the engine, can't roll down windows or anything. I turn the steering wheel and it turns but it should be locked right? It turns completely side-to-side, obviously not locked. I wait 10 mins, go back out to the truck and when I open the door, before I even put in the key, I get the same alert! Had to have Porsche Roadside flatbed it to the dealer and I could not move the gear shift so they 'dragged' it up the truck. They did use a soap solution to get is to slide somewhat. Now the dealer has it 2 days and still cannot fix it! ARGH! Anyone heard of this before? 04 S

    If you mean the blade insert it really is just a grab and pull removal, no tools needed. At the center of the black plastic cover there is a clip that holds the middle of the wiper blade. To install the replacement wiper blade just snap the new one back into that same clip. Use consistent pressure on both the removal and the replacement and you will be fine. You're on the right track. The bolt under the plastic cover needs to come off, then with a little pressure you can get the entire arm off. It pulls straight up from the bolt perspective.

    Yeah, I've been wondering that too. I asked around and could not find definitive information on H/P increases, so I'm working harder and saving for a Turbo! B) If I were to add performance oriented mods, here's how I would go: GIAC ECU flash, performance air filters (BCM, EVO), 2ndary Cat bypass pipes, replace rear exhaust and a quality set of lightweight wheels. I think you could net an additional 20-40hp with all that and you will FEEL the difference. Replacing the Cats and rear exhaust will also save at least 50-75lbs. Combine that with lighter weight wheels you'll be at over 125lbs savings in vehicle weight. The wheels will be noticeable since they are "unsprung" weight. They say for every 100lbs dropped equals 1 10th improvement in the quarter mile, so who knows. Jeff

    Yup, I agree with dan, don't waste money on cheap knock offs for wheels. You will regret it down the road. Seems like you have an interest in making your Cayenne faster, not heavier. Quality, lighter weight wheels will make a noticable difference you can feel! Don't risk a cracked rim at 100mph!

    I'd be especially interested in the results of the frankenstein operation. I've wondered the same thing. My wife's HUMMER has a fantastic DVD-based nav system, and I wish the Cayenne had something similar. I actually sent an email to Navteq asking for a custom CD project for my Cayenne, and I offered to pay for it. They didn't return my email. Let me know how it works. I am sure we could raise money for the hack I like the idea, what are the #'s on your CDs? I've got S0006-0061-408, 08.2004. I primarily use the 1A Map (Northeast & N.Central) Does anyone have newer?
