  1. Hi all! I am in the process of doing an engine swap in my 2000 996. The 3.4L engine went to heaven, and I decided to put in a 2002 3.6L with 12K, by using the 7.8DME. I will post my progress here on the board. Currently, I have received the 3.6L engine, the 2002+ instrument cluster, a middle chassis wiring harness from a 2003 4S, and a 7.8 DME originating from a 2003 boxster. From reading Tholyoaks' posts, I learned that I will also need the HVAC controller and a different ABS unit. Next week the mechanical part of the swap will be done by a workshop. Right now, I am trying to get 2002 instrument cluster to fit the old wiring harness. First thing I have done is to compare the wires of the old connectors to '99 schematics, in order to find out what function each wire has. The majority of the wires in the diagram match my 2000 harness, however a few do not. Does anyone know where I can get schematics for the 2000 instrument cluster (and for the 2002 cluster later on) ? Or does anyone know what function the following wires have in a 2000 996: Blue connector I: Pin 12 I found a green and black wire, but not in diagram. Pin 25 I found a black and white wire, but not in diagram. Pin 26 diagram shows a blue wire "signal engine run", but mine is empty. White connector II: Pin 9 brown and grey wire, but not in diagram. Pin 10 red and green wire, but not in diagram. Pin 11 I found a green and black wire, but not in diagram. Pin 26: my harness has a green and grey wire, which is not shown in the diagram.
  2. I am sorry I was not really clear, but i meant; as far as the connection of the wiring harness to the ECU (not the ECU itself), would that connection be the same for a '00 and a '03 ? In other words, if I would connect the 03 harness to the 00 ECU, would that be compatible? Or did I misunderstand your answer?
  3. But as far as the ECU, and the connection to the engine harness is concerned, they should be compatible?
  4. I was planning to put in a '03 4S wiring harness, into a '00 C4 car and ECU. It indicates that there is only one type wiring harness for a 996 (partnumber 996 612 905 00), which I know for a fact is not right . A '99 middle chassis wiring harness for instance, doesnt fit a '00 because of the different connection to the ECU. My question is: does someone know if a 03 4S's wiring harness fits my '00 C4. Thanks in advance! Martijn
  5. Thanks Maurice ! Yes, I have a c4 I had a boxster but she was crashed (by a girl to be accurate :P ) and received the instructions already from kas996. It took me 1,5 days and it was not too hard to do. I will upload some photos of the process and keep you up to date. Thanks
  6. Hi all! Because I have had an engine fire, I am planning to remove my engine these days. I have a workshop manual, but I failed to find the instructions how to remove the 3.4l engine. Does anyone know where it is in in manual, or maybe another source for removal guidelines? Thanks in advance! Martijn
  7. Hi! For my - interior burnt- '98 porsche 986 (boxster), I have to replace the Wiring harness (for the interior). I just found a complete harness for a porsche 996, partnumber 996 612 903 00. Does anyone know if I will be able to use this harness for my boxster? Thanking you in advance.....
