  1. Hello all, i have a 2004 996 TT Cabriolet and the convertible top can't be opened or closed while the car is moving. I know that all late 996 cabrios (C4S cab and Turbo Cab included) had a setup tht allowed the driver to open and shut the top while moving up to 50 klm/h Any idea as to why it doesn't work on my car ? It works only with the car standing and the handbrake up as per the earlier models Could it be that the previous owner had changed a relay or a top controller to an earlier version ? Any ideas or suggestions are greatly aprreciated
  2. on the other hand I believe that M97 engines as well as 997 3,6 engines are more durable than 996 engines due to their revised design
  3. Do you have the stock cats and headers to replace and test with? This would be my first troubleshooting step. If the stock system still hesitates you know it's not your add-ons. Has the ECU been remapped? Is the behavior recent or chronic? This may sound ridiculously simple, but every few months I begin to detect a slight hesitation in my 997, and I simply add a bottle of Techron fuel system cleaner and by the next tankful it is usually gone or significantly reduced. I suspect these vehciles are quite sensitive to any type of fuel system build up. Aside from that, you may also consider the possibility they have both been fed some poor or contaminated gas. Just a thought. Good luck. I have tried and tested many types of super plus unleaded fuel. The problem is only at very low revs, above that (2000 rpm) the car is very fast
  4. Hesitation - Stumble problem. UPDATE As many many here and in other forums, we are experiencing the famous hesitation problem on two cars Car 1) 997 carrera 2 6 speed no sport chrono Stock except from cat by pass pipes 72.000klms 2005MY Symptom:Hesitation in 2nd gear light throttle up to 2000rpm. Above that works great Car 2) 997 carrera S 2007 MY 6speed Sports catalysts Headers PSE Symptom:Hesitation in 2nd gear light throttle up to 2000rpm. Above that works great Car only has 34.000 klm On the 997S we have tried the following New coils, plugs, MAF, Throttle body. Tested with fuel cap open, as well as drove without MAF. 9. It was the contacts on the tip lever that were bad. We tightend them up a bit, and all is ok now. Strange thing is that the switch unit is made from Delphi. Weird if find this on a Porsche. thanks for your help
  10. Hello, The reverse lights and park assist don't work suddenly on my 04 C4S TIPTRONIC. Where is the sensor located ? Is it on the gearbox, or on the tiptronic lever ? I checked the fuses and all seem well. Is there a relay I should check somewhere ? What else should I check ? PLEASE HELP URGENTLY
  11. Are the 986S M030 bars a direct bolt-on on all 986s ? (2.5, 2.7, and 3.2)
  12. Hello all, My 02 986S has some problem with the gearbox since yesterday. I get some grinding from 1st to 2nd, or 3rd to 2nd, especially when car is cold. I can't get second gear most of the times. The problem goes away when engine gets hot. Is it a synchro issue ? Can this be repaired, or I need a new box ???
  13. Hello, we measured the gases on the coolant tank and these indicated a blown head gasket. Symptoms are that the car overheats after 20 minutes in hot weather. No leak anywhere. So the question is do we change one or both head gskets ? Anyone done that before ? Any tips ?
  14. Hello all, I am experiencing a problem with a mobile phone SIM card on a 03 CYN S PCM. You install the card, an it displays the message "Synchronizing address book". This can take ages, and in the end nothing happens. It doesn't read the names and numbers as it used to. The SIM card works perfectly on my mobile. What is wrong with it ? TIA
