  1. if you are changing it yourself, change the rotors every time you change pads-they are dirt cheap. if you are paying someone to change it, they should measure the thickness and check the condition of the rotor to see if it can be resurfaced or need to be changed-they should tell you and not the other way around. i assumed that the op does not have carbon brakes. who puts carbon brakes on a diesel? very rich people probably.
