    Thanks for the ECU idea. I will start cleaning connectors and checking wiring. It ran better even when warm this afternoon, so I think this may have helped. Not sure I'm 100 cured yet.

  2. Oddly enough my issues have somewhat disappeared after drying out my foot wells. I found a substantial amount of water, cleaned the drains and soldered and shrink wrapped the two crimped and taped wires that are in the left side harness in the puddle. I have only driven it once since completing the dry out and it was cold out today -4 Celsius. Will post again if my issues return or something changes. Maybe these two wires were shorting out in the moisture....

     

    Maybe someone knows what the two wires that are crimped and taped from the factory are for? Other post mention unable to start when they corrode and become disconnected.

  3. When you press the brake it will release a locking mechanism in the gear selector so the you can shift from Park and will relock when you put in park and lift your foot from the brake. Notice of you try and shift from park without holding he brake the gearshift is locked in place. Maybe that is what you are hearing. Mine is fairly loud as well.

    There may have been a reason for that .
    In doing so, it ensured the engine compartment cooling/purge air fan came on at a lower temperature and stayed on for longer. I am not recommending this but have read that it is a popular hack/mod with some others. The temperatures under there are so high during heat  soak, I presume that accelerates the  degradation of some plastics that bedevils the older M96. And there are a lot of inaccessible ,crucial plastic parts under there as you've recently discovered!

    I live in Canada so we don't see the heat like southern cars do, but this one came from Cali so that might explain it.

  5. I have to agree with the while you're in there comment. Why spend all the time taking things apart to do half the job. Did mine this winter. Plugs, coils, new tubes and seals.

    I then decided to do the AOS and following the while you're in there idea: new vacuum lines, oil fill tube and seal, coolant tank etc.. Also tested the vacuum canister for leaks and almost did the starter, but it looked like it was in good shape. Also, had a good look over the starter power wire that is known to have issues, but mine was in great shape. Maybe it was already replaced. Also found that the vacuum line had come out of the intake plenum and the intake had sprayed oil all over the top of the engine. Cleaned all of that up and put it back together. Also found the temp sensor had been taken out of its holder on the right side of the intake.

    Also, changed the trans fluid and while doing that replaced the fuel filter which is in the same area.

    Ordered some coilovers and some new tires. Probably need a fender roll in the rear so that will be a task for the next few weeks.

  6. Would you say the low rpm hesitation sensation is increasingly worse when the boost is coming on strong as well? 
    Example 2 gear come of roundabout ......
    Accelerated maybe 1/2 to 3/4 throttle 
    The stutter stutter stutter bop borp borp borp increases as rpm climb 
    Then boost kicks in around 2500-3000rpm and it's worse, heavier stutter more abrupt.  
    After 4000rpm it clears and sings pretty well clean to the redline to change gear and if your at 3/4 to wot the next gear pull is above 4000rpm so it doesn't happen. 
    How does yours compare to this? 


    That sounds pretty accurate, but mine is very subtle right now. Trying to deal with it before it's a major borp. Right now it just feels like a misfire.

  7. Mine has a very slight hesitation at low RPM's. I have replaced the ignition coils as well as spark plugs air filter's and have fixed the T vacuum connector at the back of the intake manifold as well as fixed the vacuum line for the brake booster. Also found some air leaks in the intake tube's which I was able to tighten the connectors on to seal up any leaks. Still similar issues, hesitation as well as low idle, it will also hunt for gears. Doesn't matter how much fuel is in it it has done it with low fuel as well as a full tank. Might pull one of the fuses next to try and isolate it to a fuel pump but thinking that might not be the issue. Took apart the AOS recently to make sure that it was functioning properly and no torn membrane so I put it back together.
