  1. Can anyone help me out in finding the part number for the voltage regulator found in the Altenators of the early MY CTT? In my search I have been looking via the Delphi brand, the stats of 190A water cooled and a part for Mercedes alt comes up but nothing I can cross reference to the Cayenne. When i had it rebuilt (brushes, slip rings, bearing) they neglected to grab part # while inside. I now have to re&re alt as it's still not working right and voltage regulator is suspect. Huge TIA.
  2. Zakowsky,, don't give up on the assembly of that flow pipe downstream of the MAF. When I was doing my Alt RE&RE I noticed that my pass side flow pipe wasn't fully connected and I felt I couldn't follow in the steps of previous (non) assembler. I struggle with it. I very thinly smeared Vaseline on the male side of pipe (piece connecting to air box) to facilitate, but it eventually made a satisfying snap as the ribs completely seated and provided me with an uninterrupted flow pipe to Turbo You could also trying heating the female end of the pipe to slightly expand it. I would think it could handle more than enough heat needed for fitting given its location in engine bay
  3. Is it possible for a dirty or bad connection to cause such low voltage. Due to location, it's seemingly impossible to check alt post directly to see if alt output is good and the cable or connection is the issue. It seems odd that it ran fine for a while then piled up again leading me to believe cable and connection are good as I doubt the CTT would run more than an hour on battery. Just reaching for options before having to tear car apart again.. Also, is there a way to diagnose the VES and where is it located in case a re&re is necessary.
  4. I also have had to "Electric Load Light Off' appear on dash. After digging into as much forum troubleshooting as possible I too did the alternator RE&RE. I had the alternator rebuilt locally (they replaced slip rings and upgraded bearing). All was good for a while then the same light would intermittently return and disappear and after a month the same light came on followed by air suspension and shutdown. Towed it home and replaced battery with new and all seemed fine. 5 days later 'Elec load light' returned for about 30 min then went off by the time I got home. Volts at jumper posts <12V @ idle and ~12.5+V @ 2Krpm. I haven't checked amps yet but I'm wondering if there is a way to better diagnose the VES? Supposedly the rebuilt Alt benched good as new according to shop. have had no elec issues with CTT prior to Alt piling up.
  5. Sent you a pm regarding procedure for alternator swap on 04 CTT

  6. In the past two weeks my '04 CTT failed to start right away immediately after fueling up. The second time it happened to my wife and coincidently someone at the pumps just happened to have code reader on them. They were kind enough to offer assistance and the proceeding codes were read; P0441, P0011, P2403. Can someone help me understand these codes and prospective trouble shooting I will need to do so as not to leave wife stranded. Thanks in advance So, as usual due to time constraints I didn't look at codes list on site and rushed to asking forum. I found the codes in the OBD section, so I understand what they mean and I now ask is there anything I need to do about them beyond the reset that was given at gas station? one code was cam position and the other two were emissions related; (system purge flow and leak detection pump)
  7. I will look into this as I suspect my valve body is failing on my CTT. Thank you for the information thus far. I assume the durametric can reset trans adaptation. Thanks
  8. I'm about to tackle replacing the suspect CV half shaft axles on my 04 CTT. Does anyone know the torque specs or location of torque specs for the half shafts flange bolts?
  9. yes all the guides were replaced as well, when I get back from vacation I will look at the old ones and maybe post pics with how many km/mi they had on them
  10. I got the timing chain replaced as the mech doing the rebuild said it was stretched which contributed to the cams being a bit off time. I kept the old chain and all other ancilliary parts.
  11. I took the CTT for a drive and experimented a bit. The noise seems more prominent when letting of the throttle and diminishes when applying throttle or brake. I've been looking into replacement axle shafts and ask if anyone has had any experience with A1 Cardone shafts? I realize I'm typing this prior to my own search but was just wanting it to be caught in this topic for my quick reference. Thanks again
  12. During and undercarriage investigation of my '04 CTT, I came across what I suspect to be the front differential vent hose just dangling about the drive shaft. I can see the metal fastening clip attached to the hose but am unable to see where it should be attached. I inquired of the mech who performed the reassembly and install of the engine and he declared he didn't know where it went? Does anyone have knowledge to the whereabouts of the securing point for the hose/clip? I will look through the portions of the PET that I have but was hoping someone here has some knowledge on this. TIA
  13. Appreciate your input Loren. I would strongly believe it to be related to the axle half shaft. I will troubleshoot more when I get home this week. I see in the DIY section that there is no tutorial for the half shafts so if in fact this is my solution I will do my best to create one. Cheers
  14. All the bushings look healthy, a bit dusty but intact. I would suspect if it was control arm related the knocking would be more random and dependent on directional force applied. My noise is rhythmic which casts my suspicions to rotating equipment. I'm hoping it's the inboard end of the axle half shaft. But as I stated earlier the noise is more prominent at low speed deceleration but seems to diminish when brakes applied. I will try to take it on the road again and have a friend walk beside each side to try to pinpoint
  15. I talked to a Porsche mech today briefly and described the symptoms and he feels it is the anti-rollback sprag?? Anyone able to confirm or deny the potential of this mystery part of the CTT drivetrain?
  16. Looking for some guidance with an unknown noise. When driving at low speed and coming off the throttle, I can hear a knocking noise coming from the front of CTT. I'm going under to re-check the Cardan as the bushing did look suspect when I saw it on the mechs lift. I don't believe it's the Cardan at this time as the noise diminishes upon acceleration. Does this sound more like the CV axle half shaft? Some feedback would be appreciated. Thanks all
  17. I think I might be experiencing the same issue. The noise seems to be coming from front running gear,( at first I suspected Cardan). The noise is more prevalent when moving at slow speeds and coming off the throttle. When brakes are applied it seems to almost disappear. Any further info from your experience would be appreciated. Was it the right/left side?, the drive shaft from transfer case to front diff? Also, where did you get your replacement axle shaft from? Thanks in advance
  18. Well after I ordered an injector for the suspect misfire issue, upon getting ready to install said injector I find that the wires to the injector harness were broken. A poorly placed 'zap strap' cause the wires to be stressed and contributing to the fatigue and eventual breakage. Soldered the wires and put all back together and the CTT runs like a champ.
  19. Finally got my CTT back after a head gasket job, new & rebuilt turbo and timing chain. Stealership went into receivership before work was done but fortunately they allowed mech to finish assembly. Mech informed me all went well but cyl 7 misfire is coming in. Swapped plugs and coils to different cyl to troubleshoot. Still came in as cyl 7 misfire. I see from a quick search this problem could be a simple connection or fuse issue. Unfortunately I'm at work for 5 more days and can't fix CTT for wife. If someone could fast track me to the potential fuse I can try to guide my wife through the hunt
  20. Thank you for the quick reply, greatly appreciated. I will check out those sources and see if they can help. Hopefully they have in stock rebuilds and will swap my cores. Looking at their site, there isn't much detail as to options. I will look further
  21. I too am informed by my stealership that my turbos need replacing. One has a failed bearing and the other a cracked housing. By whom and where are (did) you get a rebuild for low $?
  22. So an update since my CTT went to mechanics, first mechanic tore apart top end and said there was some improper work done on coolant tube upgrade and proceeded to correct and then send back to dealership and within the first day of me driving it again the same issue of extreme coolant consumption. So, back to dealership with a long face and extreme displeasure. They promise to get to the bottom of it as they just hired a 35 yr Porsche veteran. They dug deep and investigated the suspected head gaskets and, viola, obvious signs of gasket failure. So they have fixed everything properly, even some other issues they discovered. While the engine is out I want them to replace the tees in the coolant system that are susceptible to failure with a metal alternative. I have looked and have had no success in finding the actual measurements of the tees. I would like to source these out myself and bring them to the mech prior to reassembly. Has anyone actually measured these and recorded findings?
