  1. How did you find out which wire that was? Do you by chance have a schematic for the headlight connector? I don't know if I'm going to be able to use a tester on it without the headlight in...
  2. I know there are threads on this but haven't found one that answered this question... A. Where can I find a 12v switched ignition spot that I can add a circuit (using a fuse tap or add-a-circuit)? preferabley in the wet box B. Where can I find a good place to tap into the turn signals? Is there a fuse? (Or 2)?? Or should I splice into the headlight wiring connector? Does anyone have any definitive answers for these?
  3. Where does the overflow tube dump? I've been experiencing a coolant leak (intermediatly not constant) from the right passenger wheel well (behind the wheel well(engine side)) and am trying to diagnose it. Seems to dump about a quarter to half a liter after I park the car. Ideas are as follows A. Head gasket (don't know about the likelihood of that but any things possible) B. Fracture in expansion tank c. Loose connection to/from expansion tank YES I REPLACED THE CAP At this point I'm pretty sure the coolant pipes under the manifold are not involved. I cannot locate the leak from the top only the bottom see pictures. Possibly there is a loose connection under the CET and the fluid is running along the tube somewhere I can't see it??? Seems to leak only when the engine is up to temp and parked or stopped (in idle or off)... Any ideas? The engine has not been overheating as it is infrequently driven (20 miles per week) and kept under a sharp eye since this problem has come up. The reason I said head gasket is because after a 15 minute drive today I parked the car ( with engine running in idle) and took off the fill cap after releasing pressure. I noticed the coolant was very high and slowly rising! Just before it overflowed an air bubble came up and the coolant level dropped by about 1 inch... However it was still far above the max line. Aware of the leak I checked it before the drive (engine cold) and added about 1L of fluid to bring the level back up to just below the "max" line. Could a blow head gasket force air into the coolant system, BUT NOT show water in the oil? I don't see any noticeable performance difference, nor any symptoms of a blown HG... Wtf man... The coolan can be seen dripping from the area around the silver bolt within the suspension and falling around the front right passenger wheel spindle.
  4. Should say I replaced the cap but not the tank **and it's still leaking tank replacement coming this sunday
  5. Guess I'll know for sure this weekend. I picked up the tank and new cap but it is still leaking a bit, not much though. I did manage a few pictures. On the last picture looks like it is dripping down the inside of the from wheel well. I will post a diy on replacing the coolant expansion tank if that ends up being the cause this weekend. Thanks for the Reply and stay posted.
  6. Regardless this has got me to buy the aluminum pipe kit which I will install next weekend hopefully. I just need to get the car the 30miles to my workshop in the mean time...
  7. I bit the bullet and bought one from the Porsche dealership down the street it was cheaper in price, also got a new cap for good measure. I will post some pictures this afternoon. If the fluid is coming from just inside the wheel well is say just a little in front of the passenger side wheel drive spindle it is probably that tank correct? What's the possibility that it is from something else? Eg coolant pipes under the intake manifold? I feel like if this was the case the fluid would take a different path and end up coming out back further and more centered under the tc bell housing...
  8. i do not see any residue around the cap however i do see some directly below. on the shock tower looks like it could possibly be coming from underneath the tank... oriley just quoted me 154 for the tank does that sound a bit high?
  9. The past few days I've been getting a bit of leaking and immediately assumed that it was the cooling pipes that had failed. But couldnt understand why the coolant seemed to be coming from the front passenger side suspension. I first though it was differential fluid that had spun from a leak or crack in the diff housing. turns out it was coolant. It doesnt seem to be a constant leak. its infrequent while driving. i was xmas shopping and checked before and after every store i hit and seemed to be leaking at only a few stores. After reading these posts my hypothesis is this. That the leak is not severe and is probably happening under pressure (e.g. when the coolant would be the hottest like after coming to a stop after a time of high load. "coming up a hill then parking your car in the driveway and turning off the motor.) which is when i first noticed it. thus creating pressure and releasing coolant. However i am not going to be driving her around unill I replace the tank this weekend if i can get the part. no leak is acceptable... OBVIOUSLY. So what do you guys think is it the tank or the pipes? what are some telltale signs that would give either one away? Thanks, Nikko 2004' Cayenne S 95k
  10. I used 75w90 LS mobile 1 for the front and rear diffs. The front takes .75qt, and the rear takes about 1.25 quarts. I used Redline D4 ATF for the transfer case and the Transmission. Using the D4 ATF in the transmission really helps to reduce gear noise, and (imo)improves shifting alot. I know the Toyota fluid is supposed to be the same as the oem porsche fluid, but I still feel like the Red line product is superior.
  11. Also does anyone know the fill/drain plug o-ring size off the top of their head? It's such a pain having to hit the store with the used o-ring halfway through the job...
  12. I will be doing this procedure this weekend. I'll be making a detailed instruction video to go along with it. Should be up by Tuesday stay tuned.
