  1. As far as dry traction goes, the PS2s were the best of the 3 Michelin tires mentioned here. Sure, the MPSS and the new PS4S are better in the wet, last longer, and are less $. But I only care about dry traction. I do miss the old PS2s.
  2. Might just want to replace it. It could be 12 years old and ineffective. Also add a tire plug kit to your car, and use that before you trying to use the sealant.
  3. I thought about this, but you've driven about 1,000 miles. Hard to believe the car would still have an air pocket after all of that. Your cap sounds good-to-go.
  4. To JFP's point, a few oils for you to consider are: Mobil 5W50 (Porsche A40 approved) Redline 5W40 Driven DT40 5W40
  5. Back in my 993 days, that's exactly how you do it. If the rear goes flat, you move the front tire to the rear, and put the space-saver-spare-donut on the front. Keep speed below 55 mph. Seems reasonible this would remain true on the 997.
  6. Only buy an OE Porsche water-pump in a "Porsche" box. Sunset is a great vendor. Also a good time to replace the thermostat and flush the coolant. You'll need about 3 gallons of Porsche coolant and 3 gallons of distilled water.
  7. Oh, one more thing, you could also consider buying/building a 991.2 and add the PowerKit. This may give you more flexibility, and an available open build allocation. I did this back in 2014, since the GTS was not released yet, and I wanted the extra 30 HP of the PowerKit. It was expensive, thought, at about $18,600. The 991.2 PowerKit is about 1/2 that price. Good luck. Fantastic cars.
  8. Getting a new 991.2 GTS now is going to be very-very hard to find. Most build allocations are gone, and Porsche is getting ready to tool-up for the pending 992. Drive a 991.2 with RWS and one without RWS. Then decide what is best for you. As for the sunroofs, look at each one, and decide. The interplay with your car color may also be a factor you consider.
  9. The 3rd rad is a good idea/mod for a track driven DE car, and/or a car that operates in very hot weather.
  10. That's just it. Don't let the car sit and idle. Turn the key, start the car, let it come off the high idle, maybe 60-90 seconds. And go. Keep the RPMs below 4,000 till the oil temps hits the 180s. Use a high quality Porsche A40 0W40 oil in the winter months.
  11. Start using an L&N Billet Magnetic drain plug. Be careful, the torque spec is only 19 ft.lbs. Also, on your next oil change, start doing Used Oil Analysis with places like Blackstone Labs. Go on Blackstone's web site and order the free test kits. I buy the actual tests in bulk of 6 and save a little money. How often do you change the oil? I'd suggest every 5,000 miles, and at least yearly (on a low mileage car).
  12. Have your friend look into Michelin Super Sports (I have these on my 991S) or the newer PS4s. Both great tires, and some are becoming "N" rated, though that's not exactly required.
  13. Call Rick at Fischer Motors. Maybe he can help you. 847-304-8822. They are in Barrington just down the road from MW.
  14. For dye, talk to JoAnn at www.colorplus.com I'd suggest a good cleaning and conditioning, first, then re-evaluate if you want/need dying. You'll want a quality leather brush, too. Research quality leather care products on sites like Detailers Domain. Phil (owner) is very helpful there.
  15. Spacers add weight (unsprung) and increase the stuff (dirt, rocks, ect.) thrown up on the side of your car. They are NOT going to improve your handling. For aftermarket wheels, buy the correct offset, vs trying to fix a fitment issue with spacers. Always use the proper, longer, wheels bolts when adding spacers. Small spacers, like the OE Porsche 5mm spacers, are fine, and aid in cleaning your wheels and calipers, because it gives you that extra 1/4" of gap to get your cleaning rag/brush in there. The 5mm spacer is purely aesthetic.
  16. Check battery prices and performance at places like; WalMart, Pep Boys, Sears. You don't necessary need a higher priced AGM battery (all the new Porsches use 'em, though). Just make sure it has the proper vent tube kit, and don't reverse the polarity upon re-install.
  17. Young Kim, mid 180s (highway cruising) would be better. Make sure your front fans are properly working, both low and high speed. May also be a good time to pull the front bumper, and do a thorough cleaning of your 2 front radiators. Check coolant level. Be prepared for a new water pump (including coolant flush and new thermostat) of all else checks out.
  18. Good info in this link to Rennlist: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-turbo-forum/873354-passengers-window-has-lost-it-s-mind.html Loren, please delete if we are not allowed to post links like this. Sorry if I'm in error.
  19. Do you have Sport Exhaust? Could just be overruns. Could also be diverter valves letting out boost. If you truly want it perfect, go to your dealership.
  20. This is an especially poor tire combinaton. Compounded by the fact that it's a 4S. Good luck. You'd be better served with 4 Pilot Super Sports or 4 Pilot 4S (thier newest tire offering). I'm currently running a new set of the MPSS on my 991 C2S PowerKit Cab. The good news is that your Cups will wear out very soon!:)
  21. I suggest you do another oil change in 1,000 miles, and send a sample off to Blackstone Labs for a baseline UOA. Then, rinse & repeat every 5,000 miles. Yearly at a minimum. Order your free sample kits today.
