  1. Hi All, My CD auto changer has not been part of the system since I got the car. Has aftermarket HU. The fibre cable is removed but the power plug is still there. I'm looking to remove the unit altogether but can't work out how the plug comes out. I could just snip the wires but would prefer not to. Any help appreciated Thanks Mike
  2. Diagnosed as a dodgy batch of oil used for the 4WD oil change. One for everyone to look out for should they have the same symptoms.
  3. Update. OPC looking into it with Porsche GB Thanks guys
  4. Hi guys Just got my 2008 TT Cab back from the OPC after minor 6 year service (brake fluid, fuel filter, 4WD Oil change, poly rib belt change as extras). Car has done 23k miles. Today the car has had a clunking as I set off in 1st when clutch let out, can feel a punch in the back sensation (and not the usual nice n scary one). The clunking continues if stay in 1st at low speed. seems more evident when the engine is warm and I was crawling in traffic. Wondered if anyone had experienced similar? I'll be back on the phone to the OPC tomorrow for certain! Cheers, Mike
  5. Pretty much the same for me as for Faye. Had standard shift on 02 996 turbo, but now have 2008 turbo with short shift. Doesn't like 1st whilst rolling but definitely a meatier and nicer shift overall.
  6. Google search returned this: http://www.porsche.com/all/media/pdf/Owners_Manual_Turbo_PCNA.pdf although it's for a later car....
  7. All fitted using the excellent instructions thanks Richard. Doesn't work quite yet as I'm guessing it's wrongly coded by the independent, back we go tomorrow! Lights up on the dash at startup but not when the stalk button is pressed! Cheers, Mike
  8. Hi Guys, My indicator stalk refuses to stay put on right turn, I guess this is the common fault. If I'm replacing the unit anyway is it easy to retrofit the cruise too? The 4 stalk module is cheaper for some reason, plus it's a great addition to the car. What do I need other than the unit? Is it even possible? I'm in a 2002 996 Turbo. Thanks, Mike
  9. I have a leak of Pentosin coming from the reservoir under the bonnet next to the battery. When I've opened this it's filled beyond the MAX level, right up to the top. In the engine compartment the level on the dipstick is just on the bottom of the stick below Cold without starting up. When the engine is warmed up it's not on the dipstick at all. Any ideas guys? Thanks, Mike 2002 996 Turbo
  10. Not sure on the recall bit Tom. I paid for my fix, was a seized turbo. Whistling has gone now but the leak fixed at same time.
  11. Oh ****! The turbo is internally damaged apparently. Anyone got £3k to spare?
  12. It gives the error message when raising, intermittent fault though. Thought it may be hydraulics again based on the TSB on her re spoilers
  13. Thanks. The noise disappears when I press the clutch. Fluid is low when tested due to a leak at the front I've discovered. May also explain the spoiler issues. Car now booked in at my specialist. Cheers for the help.
  14. Hi guys. I've recently noticed a whistling noise when accelerating on my 02 Turbo. Is this a normal sound to hear? I may be just being paranoid as I've noticed another noise (which is either tyres or wheel bearing) recently too. All help appreciated. The gauge is reading 0.0 bar at 30mph when I first hear it, whistling gets louder the harder i accelerate. Thanks. Mike
  15. For sale at Braithwaites garage near Penrith (UK). All help appreciated before I buy it. Thanks, Mike
  16. I have Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's on my 996 C4. They were cheaper than N rated tyres but they're not as good. They tend to feel less stable when cornering at speed compared to the P Zeroes I had before which would tend to support the sidewall strength theory. On the plus side they seem to be lasting forever (in Porsche terms). 7,000 miles on the rears and still 5-6mm of tread, fronts have 7mm at 8,000 !! Having said that I'll probably try Conti's next time around. Harder wearing than P Zeroes but still N rated. I'd spend the extra cash if I were you Mike
  17. Mine has been spotting for the 3.5 years I've had it. No major losses. Something to fix when the clutch is changed. Mike
  18. I have the following list of things needing fixing after coming back from the annual check at my OPC. How serious are these things, what should I be looking at first? Cam Cover Leaking Bank 2 Coolant Leak Bank 2/Water Jacket Front Bottom Arm Bushes RMS (dripping slighlty) - will wait until clutch goes, 56k miles but still no slippage. May already have had one at 34k? Thanks, Mike 01 996 C4
  19. Looks like it could be the original battery from new. Any recommendations over replacement brand or should I stick with oem. cheers
  20. The alarm went off on my 2001 C4 when I started the engine today. The clock has reset to 0.00am and it wasn't eager to start, but ran OK when it did. The meter says it's charging at 14V. If I have to buy a new battery any suggestions (UK market). Do I need to buy Porsche? Thanks Mike
  21. Thanks guys. Porsche really should take these laws into account when they design the back end!
