  1. I want to replace the gear shifter trim piece om my '09 997 C2S . Any hints to help me make this project easier would be most appreciated.
  2. I don't smoke, but I take no pleasure in this chaps misfortune. You sir are an @#*^%!
  3. I think you will have to charge it as well after adding acid and before you install it into your car.
  4. I'm considering a '09 C4 and the one option is doesn't have that I really like is Dynamic Cornering Lights. Is it merely a module swap or is it complicated and therefore prohibitively expensive to consider? FWIW, its not the function of the Dynamics I like, I just think they look cool!
  5. It's your nickel, but are you planning on changing tranny oil , after all they have to break in as well.
  6. Don't you love it? A guy asks for opinions, then does the opposite of what the contributors suggested. Personally I would have gone for the '06 20K less miles , a newer car for only 3K more, seems like a no brainer to me, but then again I would not have had to ask anyone else about what I should do!
  7. I saw this on the MONEY PROGRAMME several months ago, very interesting indeed! I wonder if they are planning a follow up, perhaps a title like How Porsche Lost Billions? Porsche, a hedge fund that also makes cars!
  8. Nothing unusual about your car's usage, and your right it is not comparable to the oil usage in your "Z", but your 997 is a lot better car in comparison isn't it? A little oil consumption is a small price for the qualities we all enjoy in our cars!
  9. I wouldn't worry about the "idle" before you turn your engine off, that advice is for turbo users.
  10. Yes, now Porsche is being squeezed, their debt is secured by VW shares and if they decline it could get real ugly! Wiedeking is on thin ice according to Handelsblatt...
  11. THanks for the pics ToolPants! I saw these same two at my dealers launch party earlier this week, i guess if your dealership sent someone to Spain for the official unveiling then they got these 2 launch cars.
  12. Another reason to buy a gen2 997, NO INTERMEDIATE SHAFT!!
  13. Here you go; http://www.porsche.com/all/media/pdf/MJ09_...luetooth_UK.PDF Thanks. Amazing that my dealer couldnt find this and even talked with his North America Rep who didnt have the info. I forwarded it to him. I think this is the UK version , but will assume/hope the US is the same. You are welcome! BTW the "UK" just means English language, not country specific.

  15. That is totally amazing! The reliability of theses gauges never seem to be considered an issue. Now we know better! Thanks for sharing this unusual event! Glad you got it sorted!
  16. Seems like PCNA wants to extol the "virtues" of PCCB, while not supporting their claims. PLease keep us posted on the outcome of your warranty claim. Good luck to you I hope it gets solved in your favor!
  17. Wouldn't this be a standard feature now, like anti-lock brakes? You wouldn't actually buy it... at least separately. Yes, it is now std equip, but it's not free, nor is it a substitute for checking your air pressure the old fashioned way!
  18. I don't think it is "good legislation" to make people buy something they don't want nor need. Unfunded mandates are not something I would endorse.
  19. PORSCHE 993 THe ESSENTIAL COMPANION by Adrian Steather http://www.amazon.com/Porsche-993-Essentia...r/dp/1904788947
  20. In the excellent book, PORSCHE 993 The Essential Companion, on page 139, MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE says 12,500 miles for spark plug replacement.
  21. I am interested to see what peoples experiences are with this practice of oil sampling, to see if reccomendations of analyst vary with Porsche reccomendations.
