Hi all, My 2004 Cayenne 9PA 3.2 has suddenly developed a fault. It started by saying "four wheel drive error" on the dashboard and shortly after "ABS failure" followed by "PSM" failure. The centre console four wheel drive system switch (behind the gear change) is also not working (LED light not going on if the dial is moved). I changed the battery with a brand new one, top of the range and went to my local friendly Porsche mechanic who run it through diagnostics, cleared codes and they popped up back again which he then attributed to an electrical fault in one of the cables. As he is a mechanic and does not cover electrics he suggested I find a specialist that covers electrics. I checked all the fuses and they look ok. The car drives ok but when started it seems like it is trying to lock the wheels (like when in the past the PSM would engage). Any help? I have a tester so would not mind checking continuity of ground points etc, but rather than taking the whole thing apart it would be great if any of you has a suggestion - which would be greatly appreciated. hello i got new speed sensors, maf but a second hand abs hydraulic unit... this codes are from durametric 5281 Version coding 4400 Transverse accleration sensor 4480 Booster pump 22 CAN: rear right wheel rpm from PSM implausible 25 CAN: front left wheel rpm from PSM implausible 31 CAN: speed from PSM implausible 32 CAN: lateral acceleration from PSM implausible 38 CAN: PSM communication disturbed gretting
Both yesterday and today I got both PSM & ABS lights on the dash during a hard acceleration (maybe some wheel spin) in 2nd gear. The lights popped at about 5K and stayed on, but turned off after shutting the car off and restarting. I checked codes in ABS 5.7 via Durametric and got 5525, Incorrect data transfer with DME master control unit. Any thoughts?? 1999 Carrera 4, 124,000 miles.
Recently I started my 99 Boxster and noticed that the ABS and Battery Light came on. I had this issue last year when my alternator failed so I hurried home as to make sure I didn't stall on the side of the road. I made it home and checked my voltage readings on the battery. With the engine off the battery read 12.5 and with the engine on the reading was 14.44. When I went to start the engine to check voltage, the lights were not on. Drove couple of days and the two lights came back on, but when I shut the engine off and restarted, the lights went away. Anyone have experience with this type of problem? Could this issue be caused by thin brake pads setting off the brake wear sensor? Any advice/help is appreciated. Thanks Andy
Running into some trouble trying to bleed my rear brakes and I've isolated the issue, but don't know how to resolve it. Hoping someone here more familiar with the PSM module might be able to help. Issue: I'm using a Motive bleeder and have good flow into the "H" (rear) input port of the ABS block, but I have no flow from either the HL (rear left) or HR (rear right) output ports of the ABS block. I know the PSM system doesn't have a mechanical proportioning valve, but could the system have electronically isolated the rear circuit? If so, any idea how I might reset it? That could be the wrong track... maybe I have a bad relay or solenoid.
My 2002 996 Turbo ABS is acting strange lately. At very low speeds, almost at standstill ( below 10km/h) on dry road I feel the ABS being activated in the brake pedal. Hooked up my PIWIS and got no faults in ABS module. Any ideas?
I'm having a problem and think the brake switch is at fault...but not sure.I have the ABS/PCM lights showing up on the dash.When the headlights are turned off, my brake lights function normally. I don't get the warning lights when the headlight switch is off. When the headlights are turned on, the brake lights do not turn on and the ABS/PCM warning lights come on. Would a faulty brake switch be the cause of this or could it be something else?
I have 1999 911 C4 (996) There is a leak in the ABS hydraulic unit part # 99635575540 Looking for replacement part but seems very specific. Any options on alternative part numbers? New part number 99635595560, Thanks,
Hi everyone, I have a 100,000 km Carrera 2002 model. It's had new discs and pads fitted in the last 9 months (less than 8,000 km ago), new Pirelli Tyres all round about a year ago (less than 10,000 km ago). The service is bang up to date, including the replacement of the brake fluid about 8,000 km ago. Problem is that whenever I brake the ABS activates, unless I brake so softly that is. It's not in an emergency braking scenario where you expect the ABS to activate. My wife's stock saloon has better brakes. It's heart beating stuff as I feel the car will not stop in enough time. The feeling is a pulsating judder in the brake paddle. The dealership read the fault codes and confirmed there were no ABS errors. I've had previous Porsches and am familiar with the progressive feel, non over served brakes of the 996. This is different and I do not have confidence in an otherwise perfect car. The climate here in Kuwait is dusty and hot, very hot. But even in Winter when there's so sandstorms the brakes are not right. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I've been experiencing ABS/PSM problems ever since replacing worn out rear tires and using a different wheels on my MY02 996 C4S manual. I replaced the rears with exactly the same OEM sized tires, but with different wheels. Prior to tire/wheel replacement I've never experienced any ABS/PSM issues. New Sumitomo HRZ-III 295/30-18 at the rear on original C4S solid spoke turbo twist wheels, 11x18. 60% worn Sumitomo HRZ-III 225/40-18 at the front on 996TT hollow spoke turbo twist wheels, 8x18. Under normal braking in left and right hand turns, ABS or PSM activates causing slight disruption in balance of car. Normally the warning light would just flash on for a second (or not at all). This is fairly repeatable in certain turns, but not others. No problems straight line braking. Today, after an ABS activation incident, I received an ABS failure and a PSM failure warnings that stayed on. Both warning lights on dash and computer on dash saying to drive to workshop. Drove to safe location, pulled off and parked, turned car off, waited a minute, turned car back on and no warnings. I know mixing tire brands/models are bad; mixing old and new tires left and right are bad; but is it ok to mix hollow and solid spoke wheels front and back?
