Does anyone know where to buy a service manual for the 997.1 Carrera? I cannot find one. I have seen a 996 manual from Bentley manuals, and there are many similarities between the 996 and 997- but there are notable differences, too. Thanks, Jim
If you use penetrating oil to disassemble, does it cause the bolts to come loose after you reassemble them? Do you have to clean the parts somehow afterwards or just retighten to the proper torque and be done with it?
I'm looking for advice in maintaining my well kept 2000 Boxster. In 2003, I bought a 2000 base Boxster with 14,000 miles (manufactured 11/99, 2.7L, MT) from a Porsche dealer in Massachusetts, where I primarily reside. The car now has just under 40,000 miles. So I've only driven it 26,000 miles in 13 years, and I have had no major problems. I had maintenance done by the dealer initially for about 5 years, but then switched to a more local independent mechanic with a good reputation, as the dealer was over an hour's drive each way. I bought my 2007 C4S 997 as a CPO almost two years ago (at 16,100 miles) . The time for 'scheduled maintenance needed' is ticking down and I've determined from the dealer that it has had two 'minor' maintenances but never a 'major' maintenance done. I changed the oil 6 months ago and checked the brakes which are fine. Car now has 24,500 miles on it. How necessary is it to bring my car into the dealer for the 'major' maintenance? Can I just have my local indy shop do some of them? Researching the scheduled maintenance book and online, it seems that what I need for major maintenance is: changi
