Changed my oil today. 2005 C2S with about 80000 miles. Been using DT40 for a few years. About 3300 miles (1.5 years; car was laid up about a year) on this oil change. Opened the oil filter case to inspect the oil filter medium. Saw a lot of fine black (oil soaked, of course) powder in the creases of the filter medium. Non-ferrous (wouldn't stick to magnet, other than due to oil acting as "adhesive"). More than I've seen in the past. I've attached two pics here. What do you think? Source? Cause for alarm? Needs immediate diagnosis/correction?
Recently picked up an oil filter kit (filter and gasket) for my 2014 Cayenne and wanted to share the part number for reference: Porsche Part No.: 958 107 222 10 VW/Audi Part No.: 03H 115 562 2014 Cayenne, 3.6L V6. NOTE - this is a VW manufactured engine.
Which filter brands should I use for my Porsche's? I have a 2005 997 S and 2004 cayenne S that use the same oil filter. thanks.
I cut open the oil filter on the 2000 Boxster, I did all maintenence on the car since 2004 and without cutting the oil filte and r consistently found yellow / amber sealant bits. When the filter was cut open I found many very small bits of amber sealant 1/64" at most and many back hard palstic bits, likely from the chain tensioners. The amount of both types of residue is far from enough to clog the filter. This is on a one year oil change on less than 5,000 miles, Mobil 1 10w-40 High Milage, the car has 94,000 miles. Not good, for many years both the bimmer motorcycle and car, both wit
