Hello all, I bought my first Porsche 2 months ago - a 2006 Porsche Boxster S with 40k miles on it. The previous owner had a custom headunit installed professionally - he had them put in a Pioneer AVH-X8500BHS and they routed an iPhone 30pin connector to the center armrest console. Obviously this connector is out of date now and I would like to replace it with a Thunderbolt cable and do some other work. The problem I am having is that I did not receive the instruction manual for the double-din dash kit and cannot figure out how to remove the dash kit brackets to get to the back of the headunit. I don't know what brand the dashkit is but I have seen it in a few screenshots from other people on the forum so it must be fairly common. Pure force was not yielding any progress, so there must be some screws or clips. I can't see any visible screws on the sides that would be holding the headunit in the bracket, and the only clips I see are the four metal clips on the front of the brackets. I've tried pulling outward and inward on them with no results. Does anyone have any experience with these brackets? How do I remove the headunit? I just need to slide it out so that I can plug in some additional cables to the back ports of the radio. Thank you.
Why is the radio reception so bad in this vehicle? Is there a way to fix this? Can I replace the antennae or add a booster to it? On any other vehicle I've driven I can get something other than static on just about every station on the dial, on my overpriced VW I get a handful.
My 2002 Boxster S keeps blowing the fuse in the rear of the radio. When I replace it the radio works. After turning the radio back on it blows the fuse. I want to replace the radio with a newer model of radio but those also have fuses in the back of them. My car has the Bose system with door speakers. I don't want to replace the radio if the problem with just blow fuses on the new unit. I have searched many threads but not have come across this problem (Fuse on back of radio repeatedly blowing. Any insight to this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!
Hello every one, I´m new here, so please be patient with me :) I have a 911 966 carrera 4 with a PCM 1 16 bits. Yesterday I was trying to put the phone card on it and it never recognive the sim. - Since my car is imported from germany will it accept the Poruguese sim card or it is bloked? Since I never cound put it to work at a sertanly point on the phone it apears something like emergency call that I click to start. After that and no call was done but the equipment keeps emmitinhg the emergency cal. I pressed the buton that we use to zoom the maps and make choices (as a enter) for several seconds and looks like the emergency desapear, but from that moment the radion nevver switch off as usualy when I remove the keys from the starter. - what to do to put it back to normal? I see I have a german manual for he pcm since i do not understand german is that a way that anyone could help me by pointing me where to get it in english or even spenish? thanks to you all
The radio / cd / Navigation unit in my 2006 Carrera S is having display issues. I can't figure out a pattern. It is sporadic, happens sometimes when cold, sometimes when hot. Sometimes it is fine a startup and then goes haywire, sometimes the other way around. Is there a fix other than replacing? Is this a common issue? It always produces something. Sometimes almost solid white lines, it has even done duplicate images side by side at half of their original size.
Hi, I hope someone can help me. I had some problem with the battery of my car, and after replace it, I found the 'code' message on my radio CD. But I lost my code. It's CD-2 radio, probably made by Alpine. I would appreciate if someone can let me know find the code. Serial No. of CD-2 deck is: - PO CD-2 A 02 13713 - B 0 02 13713 A Serial numbers are engraved as two lines, at the side of radio CD. Thank you.
bought used, and it inconveniently came w/o the radio face (and w/o CD changer cartridge) it also came w/o use manual, so while i know that it has the CDC-3 Becker CD changer, and that the option code is 680 (DIGITAL SOUND PACKAGE), i cannot verify that the stereo in the car is stock (although it looks it) how the heck can i find a face plate for the radio/cd, assuming it is stock? ditto for the CD cartridge. thanks in advance

I have a 2003 C4S with a MOST system, but non bose. So I have to install 4 wires from the head unit to by pass the amp in the trunk. I can not seem to find a good way to enter the trunk. I have attached some picture, and here is where the harness and optical cable enters the trunk. It looks very tight, how do I put more wires through the gromet? Should I drill the gromet? The red arrow is where the tunnel through the firewall is. Please advise! Thanks !
I recently acquired a 1999 Boxster. For now the only noticeable problem I have is that the radio doesn't turn on at all. I've checked Fuse #B2 and I've got my mechanic to check it quickly and he said there was no power going to the radio. Any ideas on where else to look? Thanks
Please help, After thoroughly searching for someone who has had this issue, I am still lost. Vehicle is a 2000 Boxster 2.7, 5 speed manual. Vehicle has factory Becker radio with tape deck. CDR 220 I believe. I have replaced the ignition switch as recommended for similar problems, but there were no changes First, the vehicle will sometimes not crank when turned to the starter position. It takes multiple turns and sometimes even locking and unlocking the vehicle before it will start (acts like clutch is not depressed when trying to start). It seems to be happening more often and I am afraid it may not work at all in the near future. It is not the battery. Electrical connections to battery are good. I thought possibly the clutch switch but it does not seem to have any effect on it from what I can tell. All fuses look good. Radio fuse in footwell fuse box was blown but I replaced it. Secondly, the Radio does not turn off or on when key is turn to ON position. This happens 100% of the time. The radio can be turned on with the On button in the same way that it can be with no key in the switch. It has to be manually turned off or else it will play continuously. Even if the vehicle is locked. The red LED flashes when the unit is off and the vehicle is running. More pertinent information, All of this started happening after I removed the factory head unit temporarily. I have read different things online as what to do with the brown/blue wire that senses the radio in the dash. Some people say ground it out, others say to tape it off (no ground?). I cannot tell if it makes it act differently if it is grounded, but I may not be getting a good ground (short wire in dash)... Wire cannot be reconnected as originally was. Horn honks once after locking (I figure this is because of the radio security wire) and dash led blinks twice in rapid succession continuously. What should I do with this wire? Why would this affect the ON and OFF of the radio when the ignition switch is turned? Is this linked to the starting issue? I think it may have done the starting problems a couple times before removing the head unit, but I am not positive. It has definitely gotten substantially worse since about the exact same time though. I have already replaced the ignition switch. Also, can I disable the clutch switch entirely or will that not allow the cruise control system to function? Please help!!! Thank you all. The boxster community is amazing!
Which radios fitted to Porsche can have their unlock code recovered through serial number? - CR-220/CDR-220 - Becker - CR-210/CDR-210 - Becker - Traffic Pro NAV/CD - Becker Which radios can not have their unlock code recovered through serial number? - CR1 - Alpine - CDR-23/24 (or later) - Becker - PCM (Porsche Communication Management) – Siemens & Becker How to get your radio serial number? CR-220/CDR-220: Hold down the TP button for at least 10 seconds after you turn the radio on. "Becker 1" will be displayed. Rotate the right knob (slowly) and it will display the Becker model number. Then rotate it again and the serial number should be displayed on the radio. Or, if the radio is out of the car the then the serial number is on the label. CR-210/CDR-210: Press tone, then 8 and 0 simultaneously. "Becker" appears. Press station up arrow on right. "PR-VERS" appears. Press one of the numbered buttons below the display, directly below the LCD arrowheads (try a few). The model number will appear. Press station up arrow on right. "SERIAL N" will appear. Press the numbered button again. The serial number will appear. Or, if the radio is out of the car the then the serial number is on the label. CDR-23 (or later): These radios do not have a security code - that is, not that the user enters. These radios are security tested on the MOST (fiber optic bus) system to see if they are the "programmed" radio. The radios are programmed and recognized by the car’s DME and can only be replaced by a shop with a PST2 or PIWIS. These radios will not request a code when battery power is disconnected. Traffic Pro: Select the Service Menu, press NAV and multifunction key 10 simultaneously in radio mode. Use multifunction keys Nxt and Prv or turn the right control knob to select the individual items. You can move through the following items: - Model-No. - Serial-No. <-- this is what we need - Changer Reset - GAL - Radio Software - Radio Bolo - Navi Rom - Navi Flash - RTC Value To quit the service menu, press END. I get a WAIT on the display - what do I do? You have to wait at least 30 minutes before trying again. The suggested number did not work - what do I do now? Most often when the code we give you does not work it is because the serial number came from an old card in the car rather than from the procedure stated above - or a typo in the serial number submitted. Double check the serial number you submitted using the procedure above again. If that does not work then you will need to contact a dealer or Becker. Becker charges to look up your code and some dealers also charge. Our program works maybe 99.9% of the time but we have no explanation why it doesn't always work. Can you give me a code for my PCM? These units are manufactured jointly by Siemens and Becker, and the only place where you can get the codes required is from the dealer/OPC. The PCM’s require two codes, the ICS/Siemens code, and a Becker code. The ICS is the first code requested. Sorry, the only place you can get a PCM code is from a dealer/OPC. Can I post my VIN to get a code? We do NOT need your VIN - only your radio serial number. Where can I post my lost code request?
