Hi Guys, I am a new member of this community and I am very happy to be here. My name is Mathias and I just bought my very first car. I am university student so I wanted a cool, sports car and as I live in Dubai, the weather is warm so a convertible was ideal. I have therefore just bought my first car, the Porsche Boxster, 2006. As this is my first car, and I have bought it as the 3rd owner. I have a lot of questions about how I should maintain the car, and hope you guys can help😎🏎 So first of all, it’s a Porsche Boxster in a beautiful red, with a black soft top, from 2006 that has driven approx. 80,000 km. it has a beige interior. 1) the paint inside the car has scratches and shows the black color under the beige coating. How can I fix this? 2) the speakers and radio signal is very poor and I want to be able to play music via Bluetooth and aux, is this possible? 3) is it possible to set up Cameras in the car, for parking? 4) there are scratches on the exterior, and I took it to the Porsche center, and they said they do not have a perfect match to this color as they don’t make it in this specific red anymore. Is there anything I can do? 5) the leather inside is looking a little bit worn, is it possible to fix this up? 6) lastly, is there any mods, DIY upgrades or accessories you recommend I to add to this 2006 Boxster?
I committed the fatal sin with my Boxster and did not clean out the drains since this time last year and was punished by the drains clogging up and flooding the interior of the car. The result was a very wet body control unit, all the rear lights illuminated and once I got into the car it decided to start moving the roof on its own and broke the plastic ball ends off two of the roof (soft top) arms on the roof transmissions.... So, as I have a durametric, I decided to buy a new body control unit, and coded it up as best as I can and replaced both the arms with the plastic ball ends. Everything seems to be fine and working great, except for one, minor and confusing feature.. The clam shell at the back of the roof comes down properly when you put the roof down, but does not come down completely when you put the roof up! I have tried adjusting everything which can be adjusted, I have spent days going through the forums searching for a similar problem, and I have even taken the roof transmissions off and inspected them and figured out how they work. The transmissions run until they hit the two microswitches inside the transmissions, which also seem to be working properly Nothing seems bent, other than the ends of the rods going to the clamshell, which seem to be bent from the factory. On my old boxster (986) I once had a problem getting the roof to work properly and noticed on that on that car when the roof was all the way forward, a microswitch above the door pillar would be made and then the roof seemed to run for a couple more seconds to finish closing things and put everything under tension, on this 987 the motors stop the instant they hit the microswitches in the transmissions,,, Is this right? The other odd thing, the durametric seems to be able to code the rear control unit, and I can change coding and see the effects, but if I try to read or clear fault codes in the rear unit it just sits there forever trying to connect... Is this normal, or an indication of a seperate or connected fault? Occasionally the Gateway and other systems are reporting being unable to communicate with the rear control unit also... Which is odd.. How can I be coding it via its communication system, but not able to talk to it for fault codes? Anyway, I would have put up two problems here seperately (Clamshell not closing and communication errors) but thought it might be best to give you guys the full picture! ... HELP!!!
I have a big issue with my roof and windows at my 2007 2.7 987 Boxster unfortunately most information I can find is for 986. The roof is mecanical closed but electronic say "open" and the windows remain in "roof operation position" 4cm down Roof is not moving anymore... The relays S3 and S5 are already checked...so next step in the root cause analysis... The roof motor has 2 wires. green and black. How many sensors /microswitches are in the 987? I can only find one, at the top. Can anybody support with wiring diagram?
I have a 2008 Cayenne turbo with the very common, but expensive panoramic roof. It will not stop squaking and I wondered whether it has any lubrication points or does it need greasing. It works perfectly, but once closed the noise is doing my head in. Any advice/help appreciated
Hello all- my absolute mint 996 Targa, is officially driving me nuts. Squeeking and rattling constantly. also slow to open. I have had the back access panel off and see all of the equipment, but no idea what to lube to repair the slow opening.
