CEL came on, no missing or other noticeable engine anomaly. El cheapo ELM OBDII reader produced these codes: Was able to extinguish CEL. P3104 Intake manifold air control solenoid - short to positive P0104 Mass or Volume Air Flow "A" Circuit Intermittent P0204 Injector 4 – circuit malfunction This suggests an intermittent wiring short. Any ideas on where such might have occurred? Thanks in advance
Hi Porsche Gurus I’m trying to troubleshoot a little issue I have that just my drivers door courtesy lights (and drivers sunvisor light but not sure if that’s different issue) don’t work, both the red and white ones and only the one door(rhd car) now ive checked the common things like all the fuses and the wiring to see if they were damaged or corroded but they seem fine, The one thing I would like to check but can not find any info on is where or what is the switch or sensor that tells the lights that the door is open to turn the lights on? If I can find that then that will at least eliminate all manual fixes that I can think of unless any of you have come across this before, if it’s something simple and I look like a fool for not thinking of it then I’m happy to be a fool as long as the lights work:) any help would be much appreciated thanks Stevie G
Hello Im working on a unique porsche project and as part of it im looking to use the current (>2016) generation 95B Macan LED HeadLights. What im looking for is the Wiring Diagram from the service manual program, so i can trace what needs to be connected to where relative to my 997.1 wiring harness. Yes, im aware this will be difficult. Im not looking to just plug and play. I already have all the wiring for the 997.1 and 997.2 cars (and a few others) Can anyone help Regards Logan Marriott
Hi guys, looking for some help with the wiring behind the dash on a 911 3.2 Carrera. My customer has fitted a new loom behind the dash and repaired the instrument wiring. I’ve managed to sort out the fuse box wiring connections and corrected the wiring to the clocks/Speedo etc. I am having a problem getting the wipers and indicators to work. The hazards work when activated but the indicators won’t do anything. I have wiring diagrams but can’t seem to indentify 4 wires. They are located up by the cigar lighter wiring behind the dash panel. The wires are red/black, black/blue, brown and grey/Green. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I also have a relay 911 618 102 01 which I can’t find a location for. Thanks in advance for any help
I just finished installing a factory tow package on my 2009 Cayenne. When I hook up to a trailer and test, everything works except for brake lights. I checked for power at pins 3&9 on the 7-pin and only have power present there with blinker and not brakes. I've check all fuses related to the tow package (1,3,5,19,&41) and all are good. I tested the trailer on another vehicle and the brake lights work. Since I don't have power to those pins, the issue has to be with the Cayenne. Do I need to have the computer flashed if I am not using electric brakes? The trailer I will be hooking up to has surge brakes, so I didn't think I needed to visit the dealer. Any assist would be greatly appreciated!!! Not sure if it makes a difference, but when I purchased this car, it had a Curt hitch with a flat blade connector in the back compartment. I didn't trace out and remove this wiring, only the hitch. Thanks -Ty
Does anyone know where this is? I was able to catch a code today when my PSM light came on, and I went into limp mode at highway speeds. I pinout would be nice, so I can trace the can-bus wiring. DTC 1314 - DME Googling around, sounds like loss of connectivity to the DME, all other modules have not logged any issues talking to the DME. This is the last of symptoms a massive wire harness failure I had late last year, after repair this is the 3rd time this has popped up. DME has no codes, may be a red herring but the AWS advanced weight module, I have trouble talking to it and my "Passenger Airbag light Disabled" no longer lights up.
Hi there! My first question on here after lurking for a while. Of all the options possible on the 987 - I'm really happy with my spec, but would very much like to have heated seats in time for winter 2017. The cost of wiring and sourcing parts to do this to factory spec isn't realistic. I have a really good set of sports seats with the optional crest embossed so finding a set as good, with the heating elements, plus all the parts, coding etc. let alone buying a new HVAC module with the stock switches. Meh - too fiddly. So I'm going to go with an aftermarket kit. Haven't decided which kit yet but either way, I want to plan out where I'm going to get power for the elements. I do have a good understanding of auto electronics and am happy with using relays etc. etc. Question: Where will the best place to get hold of a switched 12v supply that can handel the 4-5A current each seat can draw at max (while heating). This will be my first electrical job in a Porsche and I'm frankly struggling given how Porsche puts a specific loom into each car's options spec, rather than a one size fits all approach I'm used to with other cars. Tap into seat power: Although I have manual seats, the back is still motor drive - so first thought was that I could borrow 12v power here. The wiring is also likely up to the job given that seat motors can draw up to around 20A. BUT the supply here is always on - not switched with ignition - so I'd inevitably leave the heaters on and drain the battery. There is a BOSE module under the drivers seat, so an option for power there, but even less detail/info about about specs here, and it dosn't answer the passenger side question so that's out. Center console: Seems to be a source of switched power in here - but concerned it won't be rated/safe for the current draw - given it will only be designed for accessories and phone charging. Also - as above, how do I get under the carpet to run this neatly from the center console to under the seat? Run wire from the Fuse Box: This is what I want to do really, and use a spare slot on the factory box for a centralised fuse location (I have having fuses just.. hanging around) - but I'm looking for a way to run the 12v neatly back to under the seats and leverage the existing cut out in the carpet to run the wire. I'm good with getting behind the carpet around the fuse box.. and getting the wire to the other footwell - but how do I get to the seats in a neat and tidy fashion? Can't find a guide or info on lifting the carpet on a 987. Perhaps I could tuck under the inside door sills? Your help most appreciated! Kind regards, Rob
I was told that i had power seats but i cannot get them to work. Everthing i find it appears that they are actually NOT power seats or they are not the seats that came with the car. Can anyone tell me if they are? I have included a pictures of the seat, maybe i have to buy something to get them to work? I was expecting motors or something underneath but as the picture shows there are none.
I am busy installing a NAV TV iPod adapter to my 07 3.4S Boxster 987 PCM 2.1 system and I need to find a switched power source for the bluetooth adapter that I have coupled to it. I thought the power out from the wiring bridge connector (used at the back of the PCM 2.1 unit) that came with the NAV TV system would provide a switched power connection however I realise now that the power on/off signal comes from the MOST fibre connection while power to the loom stays on. Does anyone know where the best place is to take a switched power tap from? Many thanks
Hello, I just received a driver's side (L) door lock mechanism replacement for my 1997 Porsche Boxster. However, the wiring harnesses/connectors are different. Everything else is exactly the same. Please see attached photos. Any recommendations? Maybe an adapter? The part number is worn off of the old one but the numbers I do see are different, PA 66 30% GF (new), PA 66 30 FG< (old) Any ideas would be much appreciated.
Hi All Loren if you reading pls reply :) Still having tail light fault warning message, I have the 2008 led tail/brake lights and despite working when I hit the brake pedal the tail light will turn of after depressing and give the warning. Piwis shows short circuit on left tail light, I have stripped and bench test both tail lights and found no issues. I need to check the wiring back along the left side under seat and drivers floor but no idea which wires are for what. I did pull the carpet drivers side and found some previous fiddling evidence. Any body got any diagrams and any advice please help me out.
Hi. My Bose amp is bad on my '06 Cayenne S w/ navigation, so I'm going to go ahead and upgrade the head unit to a Pioneer AVIC-1040 and go to an aftermarket amp. I searched the forums, but couldn't find this posted (though I'm guessing it has before). Any recommendations for an amp and how many channels (5?)? What's the best way to group the factory speakers into the amp channels? What's the best way to retain the steering wheel controls?thanks in advance,Kevin
The car is a 2004, Boxster S - 986, with "Bose High End Sound Package" option. This Bose system has the CDR23 head unit and an amp in the front trunk. There are left and right speakers in the dash, the doors and in the rear mounted speaker box. The rear mounted speaker box has two small speakers on the left and right and a large port in the center. I am a persistent person, but I am finally having to reach out for help. After several months of off and on searching for information, I finally decided to pull the trigger and replace the head unit in the Boxster. From reading an unbelievable number of posts on this and other forums, I was convinced that the best course of action was to circumvent the MOST system and replace the head unit and amp together. Contrary to most advice, I plan to keep the original speakers (at least initially). Wiring is the challenge. My thoughts were that I would replace the pre-amp wiring with new since that is where the MOST system is in play so this was a no brainer. I purchased a wiring harness from Crutchfield to keep the original harness intact. While it did allow me to keep the harness, it only mated to 3 wires (and Crutchfield had two of those wired incorrectly). Luckily searching this forum and using my multimeter, I was able to figure out what was needed for the head unit. Pulling the pre-amp wiring from the new head to the front trunk turned out to be easier than I was expecting and wiring the amp for power is a breeze since it is almost on top of the battery. Now, speakers. I thought this was overly complicated from the post and some extensive DIY posts that I read, but I pushed on. I hunted for days on end to find a wiring diagram that matched what I was finding in person and have still not found it; I have looked at numerous ones, but none are actually like mine. I have come to appreciate that Porsche has many ways to wire these things and it is almost like everyone is unique. Not having a wiring diagram that worked, it was pretty easy to separate the speaker wires from the others on the wiring harness that connected to the original amplifier. My plan was simple, put an audio source on each of these and map where sound comes out. The first unusual thing that I encountered was that there were only 5 speaker wiring pairs. I expected 6. As it turned out, two pair mated to the left / right dash speakers; two pair mated to the door subs; and the last pair drove both speakers behind the seats. This is odd and made me wonder if there is actually a subwoofer back there, especially with the large center mounted port and the fact that the visible speakers are very small. Has anyone else dealt with this configuration? Does anyone have a wiring diagram that matches this? The amp is marked as a Bose 996.645.333.05. I have searched for information without any luck. The pins are such that it appears to be a 5 way amp, but I would typically think that the single would drive a sub, but all the information that I have seen says that the door speakers are actually subs. My thoughts right now are to continue to treat the door speakers as subs. I am going to wire them in serial to get the impedance up. My understanding is that they are 2 ohms individually. I will drive the two dash speakers normally and then drive the rear speakers as a mono channel. Any experience and/or advice out there? Thanks
I have a 1999 996 Carrera 4. Oil pressure reads 5plus all the time the engine is running. No idiot lights. I want to diagnose the problem myself. I want to fix it myself if I can. I suppose to start I should check and see if the sending unit has wires attached. Where would I find the sending unit on the engine block. Under the car, drivers side, centerline? etc. If they are attached my next thing is to check actual pressure. Could it be that high? Obstruction somewhere? Oil is not overfilled and is fresh. Can any local shop check the pressure? Where do I get a new sensor, best quality and price if it is just a sensor? I would think if it were a bad sensor it wouldn;t read anything. Ask me about lungs. I can tell you all about that. No really. Here, well, I'm a novice wanting to learn. Frank

My Porsche Targa has electric problem with the high low beams. I have checked the fuses, the voltage to the +ve terminal for the fuses w/o the fuse in place, the continuity of the -ve terminal of the fuses to the headlight assembly female connector at the car frame, the voltages on the female connector with the light switch on and light (high/low) level nd the ground continuity from the 1-12 ports on the female connector at the car frame to the main ground. The problem with the power to the low or high beam continue. I need the wiring diagram for this car to solve the problem or if someone know a web page tha t can give me some ideas. Thanks.
Hi, I own a 2005 997.1 Car 2S Convertible. I would like to put in a simple sattelite tracking system which works with a sim-card. By sending a text to this tracking device you get a reply with a link to see where the car is. It also has an option with a 'relais' which can cut for example a fuelpump so the car stalls when stolen. It's a reasonable small device but needs to be powered (wired) to feed it's internal battery. Anyboy has any experience in this where to hide it? And what could be wired to this releas to cut the engine? It feels like this is not a DIY job? Regards, Tom
