Boxster door scuff plates

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I would like to install door scuff plates but the stainless steel are quite expensive, I found those, but don't know how they look like, so I anyone has a pic...

I found this PN but I think it's for a BOxster S 986,551,303,00 A03 does anyone have a pic

Is there another PN for the BOxster?

thanks

JPCOLIN-

Unless you're absolutely bent on having OE scuff plates, I'd hit the auction site and look for the SS ones from "sales4pnparts". I paid $77.50 + shipping (but combined w/ his rear speaker kit too). I bought the SS w/ cloisonné from him earlier this year. They look and fit great.

I'm in no way affiliated w/ Harvey of PNP, just a satisfied customer. Good luck

Try this guy's plates, you won't be sorry......Nice as stock SS plates, WAY cheaper. Contact Harvey at this email harveypnp@comcast.net

I have a set on my MY03 that Harvey made, and I love them. Super nice guy. Easy to deal with.

Andy looks really good on the picture, do you have a picture of them installed?

how long are they?

Is the boxster sign engraved or is it a sticker?

The Boxster sign is a sticker, in the case of the Black sill, like the one below, the Black part is a sticker, and the Boxster part is simply the SS background/sill showing through. Very nicely done, top quality.

I would have to add a third strong vote of reccomendation for Harvey's sills, very nice and well priced.

You can email him asking what color scheme he suggests too, or that most people buy for your color.

I believe he has a black boxster like mine, I chose black with SS logo, looks really, really good (no pictures of mine).

I could not find them on eBay anymore, so just email him.

One small note: They install with double sided tape. One of the 2 ways to install in the instructions seemed to be wet with cleaner like Windex and stick. At least that's what I understood. This did not work for me. What worked best was method #1, simply wipe sill clean as possible with good cleaner, solvent, degreaser, whatever, and dry stick the sill on. Just make sure you line it up centrally, the way you want.

This is like mine. They also come in other schemes.

Another view.

Hope this helps!

Your part number is for one black plastic sill used on the S as standard equipment. The 2.5 Boxster did not come with sill plates. As an option you could order stainless or carbon, but there was never a plastic version.

The part number for a pair of the base Boxster (no S logo) in stainless is 986 551 981 01.

For my base, I bought from Harvey the stainless ones with the small Porsche colored emblem. Easy to install, fit perfectly, looked even better than I expected. Absolutely classy.

I now have an S which came with Porsche provided sill guards. Much prefered Harveys.

Came promptly, very well packaged (in a tube) and with instructions. Be sure and get the right one on the right side ... etc.

Around $75 if I recall correctly.

I think there is this guy in ebay that would make you illuminated door sills for about $100 and you could wright anything you want with any font. I am pretty sure you could get the same font as the ome .
