HID Retrofit lights in Stock Halogen housings.

Recommended Posts

I had H7 blue lights in my fogs but took them out because they were not bright enough (worse than stock).

I was just wondering whether replacing the passenger side bulb on the ICQ kit solved your problem with the flickering headlight...

I haven't replaced the bulb, but the problem sometimes comes back...

All the best,

Gus

Hi Gus,

Replacing the passenger side bulb made the headlight work again with the HID kit, yes, but it did not solve the flickering of the side markers, which are LEDs. The headlights never flickered to begin with, it's just the sides that do.

Is your headlight flickering?

No flickering here either...

Just sometimes the passenger wont turn on!

I have to switch it on and off to then get it to work...

I am glad it worked for you. I should probably consider buying one new bulb from ICQ.

I have had the kit way past 1 year, so no way they will replace the bulb.

much brighter than halogen, even brighter than silver star.

good enough to almost fool U to think that it's a HID system. LOL

Euro Dezigns H7 8500K 55W

These look interesting - how bright are they compared to stock / halogen and/or compared to HID lights?

  • 9 months later...

After about a year my driver's side wouldn't always light first try. Seemed to be getting worse.

I contacted CQ (5000 K kit) and they said to send the components in and they could be tested.

I said I didn't fancy having my car torn apart for a month.

They suggested that I buy a motorcycle kit (one side) and swap out the components.

I asked if everything was the same and they assured me that it was. Wrong - the kit had been

redesigned/improved (better) and none of the plugs were the same. I installed it and it works ok.

I sent the original parts back immediately. CQ gave me a return authorization number and assured

me that I would receive a credit ($92.00).

Now, 2 months later and no refund. I emailed them and have never received a response.

My move (again)?

so how many of you actually installed aftermarket hid kits with the slim ballasts and just stuffed everything inside the housing of your boxster 986? im concerned with with heat if i do it this way rather the drill-a-hole method. how hot do the slim ballsts typically get?
