CDR22 Invisible Display

Recommended Posts

I think this model is for the 996/Boxster and most faceplates that come with it are designed to be viewed at an angle of 45 degrees downwards. If you are looking at it straight on the display just about disappears. Try viewing it from above and see if things are any better: if they are you need another faceplate or a different CD player...

PS I know this from trying to fit one in a 944 oval dash and a 928. Couldn't see it in either but it worked in a old dash 944.

Thanks for your reply, Paul.

Becker also confirmed this (see memo below).

Dear Mr. Bernardo,

the CDR 22 is designed for Porsche model 996. Due to dashboard design,

usage of CDR 22 in a 993 could cause the complaint described.

No removeable frontpanel from other radio types do match to CDR 22 radio.

Ein Hinweis: Weitere Fragen zu diesem Thema koennen nur beantwortet werden, wenn der komplette Schriftwechsel in der E-Mail belassen wird.

Mit freundlichen Gruessen

Yours sincerely

The ROW 22 is the same as the US 220, except for the frequency. Becker North America had/has a modified faceplate for the 220 for use in a 993. Guess Becker does not do this outside North America.

Doubt if it makes a difference that you have a 22 but you should confirm with Becker North America.
