Lost "Comfort" Settings (doorlock preferences)

Recommended Posts

Have '04 Cayenne S that resets comfort (doorlock) preferences to default every time you use the other key fob. It wll remember the settings as long as you stay with one key, but every time my wife uses her key the settings go back to the defaults. The dealer has gone back and forth for 3 days with Porsche NA with no solution in sight. They (PNA) refuse to try replacing the lock control computer because "it's against procedure". Is it because there is no fix?

Anyboby got any ideas?

Just an idea to try, not even sure if it is relevant....

Have you tried storing the seat position memory for that key?

The Cayenne will automatically recall the seat position according to the key you use. Maybe it stores the other settings as well.

It happened to my 05 v6 before. Took them several months to fix it. They replaced the rear comfort module and reset the computer at last.

Today I got my CS back from the local Porsche shop with a new comfort system central control unit. Comfort settings are now staying in memory even after switching key/remotes. In addition they updated the firmware/software so that now I get 4 horn beeps on lock, 1 beep on unlock. Before it would give me 2 beeps on lock and no beeps on unlock. They also replaced my 2 keys, which actually work farther than 1 meter, the original key range. The new keys reach about 10-20 meters, depending on which side you come from.

The new keys and signaling will take a lot of frustration out of using the CS on a daily basis. However the '04 Cayenne still does not lock as effortlessly as my new Carrera 4. Nevertheless I have to give Porsche and my dealer credit for going to a lot of effort to successfully fix the lock issues on my 3 year old Cayenne.

BTW - they also replaced all the exterior aluminum trim under a recall at no charge - very nice touch!

Was there a recall on the aluminum trim??

It was done at no charge and not at my request. It's listed on my invoice as "Recall / scope 1, W401 replaced rear emblem and side trim". All exterior aluminium trim was replaced.

As long as I'm listing the service successes, I should also mention that they seem to have updated the transmission shifting parameters while it was in for service, because it's not bogging down like it always did (since it was new). It's shifting much smoother and at a slightly higher revs than before. It could be because everything was reset. I'll wait and see if the adaptive transmission function changes it over time.

In my 2003 cayenne turbo, I can get my memory seat and mirror adjustments to save between switching keys but every time I switch between keys, comfort settings like which doors unlock and horn beep with locking door do not save when I set it with one key and switch between them. Do comfort settings not save with other memory settings.
