Any recomendations about where I should buy a set of aluminum gauge cluster rings and any comments or installation tips?

Eric at bumperplugs.co is the best source for these although there is a large delay right now!

Contact Eric. He did a group buy on the gauge rings in Artic Silver a couple of months ago but the manufacturer has had some significant delays, so some people may have dropped out of the group buy and you can grab their order.

I bought a set from Performance Products, but I know that they are back ordered. The guy said they may be in in a week or two.

I bought mine from performance products at the beginning of June, and they won't arrive until the middle of august, due to being on back order.

Glad I finally found this board!

I would agree with the Eric thread as they are nice and painted the finish from performance is less than perfect for sure-

I bought a set from Performance Products. I agree that they were less than perfect, although I installed them anyway. I liked the finish (bruched aluminum), but the the manufacturer did a poor job of cutting the ends of the trims - the edges were sharp and bent. They looked fine once they were installed and you don't notice the imperfections.

FWIW, I used a silicone type adhesive with mine so I could remove them if necessary. I found installation just a little bit tricky for me anyway. in that with this type of adhesive you can move the rings a bit after you seat them until the silicone sets up. I put the center one on first and worked outward holding each one until it set up. But, I have a lot of time on my hands and my wife says I'm very fussy! <_<

I also used clear silicone to install mine. I put masking tape over the rings so that they would adhere better to the plastic rings and let them set overnight.

Don,

Did you get your from Performance Products also? As indicated in several posts, some people have had quality problems.

I got mine at Performance Products as well. I found that the shade of silver that they come in did not quite match the rest of the aluminum pieces in my 996, so I sprayed them with Dupli-color DSGM 501 "Galaxy Silver" which gave me a good match. I also fastened them on with RTV silicon which can be easlily removed with alcohol.
