Wheel just got thrashed.

One of my beautiful 18" turbo-look wheels just got thrashed by a curb tonight. Please, don't ask how. I am so dang upset I could kill a kitten.

Heres the way I see my options:

1) Live with the fouled up wheel. (is this really an option?)

2) Buy a new wheel from Porsche. (like $500, right?)

3) Buy a "remanufactured" wheel from one of these internet dealers I am seeing.

4) Get the wheel repaired. (however, im not sure this can actually be done)

Please folks, I am desperate for your input. The wheels are my favorite part of the car, I'm really bummed.

Sorry... those things do happen.

If the damage is not too bad then have a look at NASA racer Pete's DIY here. Or folks can recommend a wheel repair house in your area. Finally, if you need the part number and price then give us the wheel width, and MY of your car.

:rolleyes: Try Ebay or other alloy people like wheelenhancement, ernies alloys, I just got a screamin deal on sport technos from suncoast Porsche's parts department ( www.e-partssales.com I believe this is address or something close)

IMHO, you won't be happy until it is replaced. It will always be on your mind... :(

I had that happened on my BoxsterS, it bugged the %^$#@ out of me till I replaced it. Seems like a red flag everytime I walked near the car till it was replaced.

Thanks for the quick response, guys. I ended up having to work all night, just got home at 7:30am. Couldn't get it off my mind... car-perfection-lust and all. Need to go to bed.

Anyhow, that fix by NASA looks interesting. The only reason I am considering this at all is the fear that I may do this again. I am sure I will be more careful in the future, but its my daily driver, so who knows.

It is my right rear wheel, 2000 model 18" turbo-look wheel. I forget the width, but I am guessing you know. I'd appreciate info on pricing and p/n. Also, does Porsche take the core in trade?

Don/Dave - agreed. I doubt I could stomach the thought of it repaired, or not fixed at all. I also promised myself that I wouldnt get into too much DIY work on this car after the DIY/Mod obsession I had on my Corvette. It was ridiculous.

CO996C4 - I did see one of those sites... my only concern with folks who repair and resell wheels is that they look EXACTLY like the original, and also that they are not so worked over that the balance is off. Any input on this?

Porsche does not take wheels in for trade. Some venders like Wheel Enhancement do. Their trade-in value will be based on the wheels condition (and whether they can repair it it and sell it as used).

Your Turbo Look rear wheel is part number 993 362 140 04. The retail price is $679.80.
