Strange non-motor sound

Recommended Posts

Since I've only got an appointment with the dealer within a week, this question :

Recently, a noise is coming up in my MY02 996 4S. It begins after only a short driving distance, and at higher speeds, it's almost louder than the PSE ! It has got nothing to do with the engine, it's something like a winding noise, coming from the front (axle ?) and it's like I feel something - although very slightly - when pressing the clutch. It's like some part is rubbing against something, but I can't see a thing. The noise changes with the speed, like making rpm's.

Driving is as usual : no problem while braking, shifting or handling...

Nevertheless, the noise is annoying and I want to avoid driving until I'm going to the dealer's next week...

Any ideas ????

throwout bearing? oops, just saw you have a C4. Have you had the front diff fluid checked or changed?

No, but within a week I'm going at my dealer's for the 80.000km maintenance. Meanwhile, I won't drive, not wanting to increase the risk on something serious happening...

Again I can only hope costs won't be too big, wouldn't be the first failure on my 996... :censored:
