Auto A/C

Recommended Posts

Just picked up an 07 Boxster S and have a question about the auto a/c.

I find it's operation rather strange, I have many other cars with auto a/c and when you turn it on the air only comes out of the dash vents. (the way it should be) With the Porsche it comes out of the dash vents and the defroster vents! I live in Florida and it is too hot here for that.

I find myself having to manually switch it to the dash every time I drive the car, what a pain!

Is it possible to program the system not to do that?

Any help would be appreciated.

I guess this is rather a "feature" than a "bug". The AC logic does it's best to find the correct mixture of fresh air coming from all vents (it has to cope with the convertible cabin and it's unique airflow problems). Defroster (or windshield) vents are used to cool the windshield itself, thus reducing the radiation heat, and to give a more laminal airflow at the upper edge of the windshield while you drive top down. _Maybe_ that you can modify the software but I would not hold my breath.
