1987 944S Help Needed

Recommended Posts

Hello

I have a 87 944S that's i've actually had for awhile, almost a year, but just now am I starting to work on it. My main problem is that it does NOT run. What i've found about the car, is that the guy I bought it from said he was driving it and it just shut off and hasn't started since.

Now I've tested the Fuel pump - it works outside the car

Check all the fuses, also the fuel and dme relay which are 2 relays in 1. They are, to the eye, working, and look brand new. The relay gets power only for a split second when i turn the key on/over and that's why i've been told/beleive it's the alarm shutting my system down.

I pulled the wires off the key switch * which doesn't turn* and there are 4 wires, 2 were on the key and 2 weren't connected at all, when I turn the key on or anything the alarm clicks like it's going off, which it never did until i started messing with the relays and the wires to the switch. I've tried bypassing the alarm by jumping terminals i found on clarks-garage.com but that didn't fase anything.

I just found out that the fuel pump doesn't come on until the engine is cranking and won't stay on unless the engine is going over 200 rpm. The fuel pump doesn't get power while the key is on, and the alarm clicks but horn does not go off.

I've checked out the DME, took it all apart, everything looks visibly fine, went over it with a fine comb and it looks brand new.

What i'd like to do is totally remove the alarm if possible. Or permanently bypass it. I really want to get this car running and I really need someone's help. Also, I really need a WIRING DIAGRAM for the fuel system and alarm/ dme system so my father in law can figure it out * he's a mechanic * but needs a wiring diagram.

Please email me perfect_oaf@hotmail.com with any ideas or solutions. I'll be checking this post religiouslly.

Thanks
