Console Problem

Tpup

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I purchased an 01 996 Turbo new and took delivery in April of 01 (VIN: WP0AB29951S686702, build 2/01). I recently purchased a new center console (996.552.125.03) and had it painted polar silver to match the car. When I removed the center console that came in the car (996.552.125 then an "01" over an "02"", it had the hinge for the glovebox molded on the console itself. The new console does not have a hinge.

I have called and been to Hennesy Porsche several times trying to purchase the correct parts to match a car that would be built today but they cannot give me current part numbers. The parts that came off my car are as follows:

Console Extension - 996.552.227.00

Console - 996.552.125 then an "01" over an "02"

Console Lid (glove box lid) - 996.552.305.01

The only part that shows in the Porsche (LEX) Parts Catalog is the console itself, and according to the catalog, the console I purchased is the correct part even though there is no way to mount the console lid. Hennesy has contacted PCNA who said they e-mailed Germany but I still have no part numbers for a current car.

My question is, what console parts do I need in order to match a new car? I am aware of the "hinge kit" fix (996.552.960.01) but I would rather have the current factory parts. A assume that the current cars have an updated "console extension" or "console lid" that has the hinge mounted on it.

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Roy

Well, the hinge kit would have everything you need and could be better (stronger) than the newer factory pieces. The hinge kit includes: hinge plate, two U-brackets, two 4mm pop rivets. All pieces are metal.

Depending on the new console you got it may or may not work with the factory parts (which use self-tapping screws). Here are the factory parts (you may not need all of these):

996 552 691 00 retaining belt with retaining pin (console side)

996 552 507 00 hinge MY02-

999 073 228 09 self tapping screws 4.8 x 13 (2 needed)

996 552 795 01 spring

996 552 605 00 hinge pin (cover side)
