I've read posts about polishing up the standard exhaust tips. Since the tips are just held on with 17mm bolts, I figured I try it before I ordered OEM stainless ones. Well, I just saved myself about $300. I used Flitz metal polish and the finest steel wool I could buy and hand rubbed each for about 15 minutes. They polished up to near mirror finish, almost as good as the factory ones. The whole project takes about an hour. Unfortunately, I can't upload the pics.

Another way of polishing the tips is to use a buffing wheel on your bench grinder and polishing rouge. You can get a stick of rouge at any hardware store in the section that they have the bench grinder accessories (that is where you get the buffing wheel as well.) After I have used the wheel, I clean up the metal with Meguires metal polish.

I noticed that after a couple of hundred miles of driving that the tips are already starting to yellow again! :( Maybe there is a difference between the Tequipment stainless steel tips and the stock ones?
