Alarm

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if someone could help me with what I think could be an alarm issue. When I lock the doors after exiting the car I usually do not hear the horn beep, but sometimes I do. Why would this be the case? I checked the doors and they are locked, but I am wondering if the car is indeed armed or if the doors have just locked. I do get 2 light flickers when locking the doors and the flashing led in the cars works. I do get a single flicker once I open the doors as well. Any suggestions????

When locking the car, you should not hear any beep. A beep on lock means one of the check points/contacts is not ready. It could be a couple of things as there are numerous ones for the alarm. For now, let's assume the control unit is fine. So some quick things to look at next time it happens (or now).....

-is there a particular time/way/place that you usually get the beep? top up or down?

-radio - do you have an aftermarket h/u? there is a hook up on the chassis

-console - center console storage must be closed completely- contact point there

-trunks - if one is open would cause a fault

-motion sensor could be interupted while arming (i.e dog in car)?

If there truly is a fault, I think you can have the system read w/ a code reader to tell you where it might be. Good luck and hope this helps a little.

Not sure about you guys but when this happens to me its usually the center console lid not clicked shut!

If it is a case of a dog in the car you can turn off the motion detection by press the lock key twice when you lock it.
