hi guys ive got a 1999 carrera 996, everything was running perfect but 2 days ago my revs droped down to about 500-600 and stalled when coming to a stop at the lights, not sure what the problem is, its frequently stalling now with the revs still pretty low, and also im not sure if this has anything to do with it but the changing of the gears seems to be different aswell????

please please please any help?

First you should try to see if you have some fault codes stored with an OBDII reader (many autostores will lend you one to use in their lot). Hopefully will get you something on fuel delivery (filter, injectors) that you can clean or replace easily.

Can you tell us if it is a C2 or C4?

The MY99 C2 has an idle control valve and the C4 is egas so it has a different throttle body (and no idle valve).

its a c2 loren, would i be able to do something about it myself or would i need to take it to the porsche centre? and would idle control valve have any effect on the changing of gears?

6 speed or Tiptronic?

I agree with Izzy - first step is to see if there are fault codes. Most auto parts stores or shops will do this for free.

If there are no codes then I would start by cleaning the Idle Control Valve ands the throttle butterfly. Many times these are just gummed up with carbon and a good cleaning solves the problem.
