intermittent convertible top operation

I seem to recall others had a similiar problem and isolated it to the top control unit under the driver's side dash. Does anyone recall these posts or what the fix ended up being. Pictures would definitely be helpful.

I don't know where those posts are, but lots of posters have had success with a simple remedy when the convertible top control module was the suspect on their Boxsters.

You just pull out the module (it's the only double relay in the relay tray in Boxsters) and tap it firmly against a hard surface a few times (in a similar fashion that smokers used to tap their packs of cigarette) and then re-install the module, followed by pulling the module on and off a few times (that removes surface corrosion on the contacts between the prongs and receptacles).

If you are not sure where the module is located, on a MY97 Boxster (as well as other years), it's the only double relay in the relay carrier which is located by your left calf (with your left foot on the dead pedal), i.e., under the dash on the left kick panel above the fuse panel. The double relay is located in the third row from the bottom (bottom row is empty of relays), second from the right.

It's worth a try.
