02S Won't Start

Recommended Posts

My 02 Boxster S has been sitting in the garage for a week due to weahter. I decided to start her up this morning to bring her up to operating temp, but she won't start.

When I turn the key, everything lights up, but I get a tick, tick, tick sound. No engine turnover.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for help. :(

You've gotten about 5 years out of the OEM battery, consider yourself fortunate! Replacing it is fairly easy but you have to climb into the trunk.

Hey JFERR,

Saw this on the 986forum too and I will have to concur with the other guys on this----it's the battery. It happened to me too and I just use a battery tender to maintain it throughout the winter months. I have the Schumacher 1 AMP trickle charger w/c plugs into the wall outlet. It has come in handy many a times. You might want to invest in something similar.

Let us know what happens. :)

BTW, this has been discussed many times in both forums and it might be helpful for you to do a quick search for useful information on the different types of batteries and battery maintainers. Good luck!
