Loren- I just bought a 3 spoke. Do you have a DIY

Recommended Posts

Hi Loren. I finally found a full black leather 3 spoke wheel to throw on my car. Would you happen to have any instructions. I'm a little hesitant because of the airbag deal but think I can manage. I have changed them on the racecars, but then again, no airbags.

You should have been at Henry's house. We had some room left on the trip computer retrofit DVD so we video taped a 4/3 spoke steering wheel swap. It takes a long time to type the instructions. I have posted them before on other boards - I just have to remember where and when and see if I can find a link. Perhaps Loren already has something. This pic is from when I did my swap a few years ago. Jeff

Those are pictures of me working on Bruce's car 2 years ago. Here are some brief instructions I posted in 2001. Instructions

Disconnect the negative battery cable first so the air bag light does not go on when you disconnect the air bag. Make a match-mark on the shaft that corresponds to the square hole on the wheel which you will see once the air bag is off. The square hole on your new wheel lines up to that mark on the shaft.

When you put the wheel back on the 2 plastic prongs must be going into the 2 square holes in the wheel as you slide the wheel back on or you will break the prongs.

In this picture of a 3 spoke you can see 2 black match-marks I made before the wheel was removed. Jeff
