I had purchased and installed one of the Red Schnell Air Intake hoses that come with the plastic "intake muffler or silencer" plug & cap. I liked air intake sound that resulted but thought the red hose looked kind of cheap. Not liking the way the Schnell main hose looked I changed back to the OEM Air Intake Black Rubber Hose.

I was wondering, has anyone ever used the OEM air inlet hose but used the plastic plug to block the noice silencer cavity from inside the cavity itself ??

I guess the only possibly risk would be that the plug could come loose and move towards the main intake.

Any thoughts ?

Chuck, I have the same Schnell intake as you have an quite like it, I feel I get a bit better throttle response and love the sound. The small bypass pipe *can* be blocked off as you say at the box side, but the open top part of the pipe (after the MAF) will create a 'dead zone' for air flow and I have no idea what that would do for airflow unless you blocked that section off as well. At that point I think it's a moot point as your half way to a modified intake and not quite as far as the Schnell or Fabspeed design.
