Hi all.

Well the time is near to start getting organised.

In July I will be going on my second Europe Road trip

in my 996 C4 Cab. 6sp.

And I’m wondering if you guy’s can give me your advice on things I should

check out and do to my 996 before I go!

The trip will involve me and the girlfriend Driving from Starting point: Dublin Ireland to the ferry in Wexford Ireland to Cherbourg France 17 hours overnight crossing. then driving to Suwalki Poland to Kaliningrad Russia to Montpellier France then back to Cherbourg France to ferry back to Ireland

Of course stopping along the way to see what there is to be seen...

(Ireland to France to Poland to Russia to France, back to Ireland)

Just over 6000 miles I think? (maybe more) all in 3 weeks I’m not afraid to add mile to

my 996 these are beautiful machines and its a pleasure to drive them in the sun with the roof down on the open road, it’s sometimes the only time

we get to experience them.

Have a super sat nav Gamin 660 saved me last time I tried to do this trip July 2007. around 2870 miles in 7 days...

I did it in my Y2000 986 Boxster tip. I started to have car trouble just near Paris France the car started to make a loud clicking noise,

(garage said is was a water pump?) I got just to Wroclaw Poland and had to turn back again. It’s amazing how far you can drive in a short amount of the time I did Paris France to Wroclaw Poland

in 12 hours 43 min

So this time I want to make sure I’ll get no nasty surprise from my 911

any advice is much appreciated.

Thanks guys.

Will be posting pictures of the car soon...

This is the type of journey that everybody thinks about when it comes to 'Americans visiting Europe'. :P The mileage you're trying to cover should take 8 weeks or even more.

Do you have relatives in Russia or Poland? Otherwise you'll have to park you car in a public garage which sounds like a pretty insane idea. There's a reason why car theft isn't covered by most west european insurances if you take the car over to eastern europe.

In any case: Good luck
