Aftermarket exhaust system

....and another thing! What is the current consensus on aftermarket catback exhaust? 1. Best increase in power. 2. Least irritating sound. 3. Most cost effective. 4. Proven dyno results.

And the winner is.....????

1 out of 4 ain't bad!

Well, the problem is, I don't think there is a consensus on any one system, since some of the measures are pretty close or subjective:

1 & 4 - a lot of debate on this on Cayman Club and you should review some of the Dyno results on the Cayman Club Dyno forum. My gestalt is that the best one can hope for is maybe 5-15 WHP increase with a more free flowing (i.e. delete 2nd Cat) system. PSE apparently doesn't add any significant power.

2 - Highly subjective - what is "least irritating" to you may annoy the hell out of me :) . You can find some sound sample files on YouTube or some of the manufacturers websites. At least with the PSE exhaust, you can switch it from loud to stock when you want.

3 - Again, a rather subjective measure - some of the more popular exhausts are also the most expensive, e.g. Capristo, Borla; but, it may depend on what you are looking for: sound, performance, styling, reputation, etc.

I'm afraid there is no clear winner . . .
