Is this what I think it is? I started the car this morning an a noticable puff of white smoke cam out of the exaust for about 5 seconds. I opened the oil filler and this is what I found. 03 C2 37K CPO until 12/08

This must be little consolation for you, but my car has that same disgusting white residue. I am curious what it is myself. I am worried that may be residue from burnt coolant, since my car had some coolant getting into cylinder #5 many years ago. My engine has been replaced, but I don't think the oil funnel was replaced along with it.

My car has the same and is going to the dealer for its 80000 km service next week. There is no coolant loss and the oil pressure is normal. I don't want to give false hopes and I have no Porsche experience, however, from other (ordinary) cars I have owned and from my short time as a mechanic many years ago, it was often due to condensation building up in the filler pipe, particularly as I live in a reasonably cold and wet climate during the winter. It usually looks worse in cars with a reasonably long filler tube for the oil as there is a greater surface area for condensation to build up on. I'll let you know if there is any issue picked up in the service but I am (quietly!!!) confident that the problem is just condensation. Good luck if you get it checked out!!

It could be only what you think if the cooling water in the expansion tank have the same symptom ( oil - water mixture ) and the car have a exceptional cooling water consumption, if not it is only condensation by short driving cycles in cold - humid circumstances. Nothing to worry about, just keep an eye on the cooling water level.
