986 S 6 speed shifter Part #

Recommended Posts

Ok, here is a difficult one. My 986 S has the Dark Maple Burr shift knob and e-brake handle option. I know these are hard to come by, but here is the tricky part. All I really need is a new shift pattern insert as the existing one is dulled out. The shifter itself has a few scratches on the aluminum, but wood is fine.

So, does anyone know where I can get my hands on such a part or would I just have to bit the bullet and purchase the entire new assembly?

Interior color is savannah beige.

Thanks

Any ideas on maybe polishing it clear again? Dremel tool maybe?

Sorry, but I think you are out of luck. Porsche does not sell them separately.

You might try someone with a bad knob and good shift pattern or a salvage yard.

That should work but might try using some meguiars plastx on it first (or novus or another type of plastic polish by hand). If those don't work, try lightly wet sanding w/ a super fine grit and then polish w/ a dremel buffing pad. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
