Rattling passenger seat

Hey guys! I am having a rattling issue with my 02 C4S coming mainly from passenger seat-- noise is gone when someone sitting down. Any quick fixes? Thanks all :renntech:

I think for the most part it comes with the territory. I owned a 2000 C2 coupe and the seat rattled and now I own a very low mileage 2000 C4 Millenium Edition coupe, seems much more solid, but guess what, the passenger seat rattles. If you angle the back of the seat back I have found it helps on mine.

When you purchased the Pcar, it should read somewhere in the legal documents that the "passenger seat vibrate/rattle" is included with the car.

Mine does, I think they all do, and yeah...adjusting the recline angle until you find the right spot, does help reduce the annoyance.

FWIW, I had the same experience with my 2002 C2 Coupe, and now my 2002 C4S does it as well. It's something I have learned to live with. I guess it's just part of the Porsche "character".

Thanks guys! I drive a big car that's plush (Audi A8L) and everytime I drive the C4S the noises and rattles seem louder!! All in all, I love the car and enjoy driving it immensely. Looking forward to Skip Barber driving school this spring :D

Yep, my seat rattles too (along with everywhere else!). I located the 'rattle' to the 'arms' underneath that lift the seat up and down. If you put your head underneath, move the back of the seat forwards and backwards while listening and 'feeling' where the noise is coming from you should eventually see it. Mine has 'float' in the bar that runs across the seat underneath and where the lever then lifts the seat. I can reduce mine by slightly lifting the seat front and back so that there is weight on the bar (from motor and seat), reducing the 'rattle'.

Seems as though you have the 'good one' :) Mind, if its never occupied, maybe its never 'loosened' up? What about any other rattles, how you doing there??

yep. i have a MY03 C4S and my passenger seat rattles when unoccupied. i've learned to shut it out. i had a squeak in the sunroof right above my head that the dealer fixed under CPO. that one i couldn't live with.

looks like there's a tie-in here with another thread about consumer reports, at least for my model year, where rattles and squeaks are a black circle. no other issues with car, except for the obligatory RMS replacement, done under CPO, which i think dealer just did as a matter of course as i never saw an oil leak.
