Coupe Roof Carrier mount blanking screw

Recommended Posts

I have a 2004 40th Anniversary C2 996 (absolutely great car with the 345 bhp engine & sports suspension !) & being a really mean individual, I bought a Porsche roof rack to carry mountain bikes etc rather than needing a second "practical" car.

My problem is that to fit the roof rack mounts, you have to remove the plastic (I think)) blanking screws that fit into the mounting area under the folding flaps in the roof strip.

After carefully placing these in various "secure" locations on the number of occasions I've used the roof rack I got complacent & placed them somewhere & now can't find them.

As the screws prevent water getting into the thread area - which is unpainted - I definitely need replacements.

I've tried the local Official Porsche Centre & after more than 8 weeks of alleged dialog with Porsche UK they can not identify the Part Number of the screws - which appear common to the 996, 997, Cayman & other models (based on isnpecting various cars in their showroom !).

I've reviewed the official Porsche Parts Lists available on-line for the 996 911 model & I can also not see any reference to the screws anywhere

As mentioned elsewhere in the renntech forums, these screws are obviously installed before painting the body as they are body paint covered & the paint can make them difficult to initially remove (very good fitting flat blade screwdriver seems to be the answer).

Can anyone help identify the Part Number of these screws ?

regards & thanks in advance,

Paul
