auto door lock

Recommended Posts

zlawman,2001 tip seal grey Boxster. About 2 months ago I thought that for safety sake I would have the auto door lock activated. Since then, it double honks on both opening and closing either door. The panel light stays on after opening and honking. It makes it harder to shut the passenger door as it half locks when a person gets in and closes the the door; the door remains partially unclosed. It takes a real effort to close the door, I can take it to the local dealer, but would like to avoid the rip off charge. Do you have any suggestions; perhaps there is someone in the Newton Ma or Boston area with the machine for deleting this locking issue

Just out of curiosity, what does "one" honk mean? It happens occassionally but not all the time. Sometimes, I'll turn the key and both doors will lock. Othertimes, it only locks / unlocks the main door. ???
One honk means 1 zone is open. Most common are the center console cover or the front hood microswitch.

Thank you. It's been driving me crazy for a while when I get the single honk. I check everything and it appears to be fine. But I didn't realize the center console cover had a sensor. That would be what it is for me. Thanks for pointing that out.
