looking for good sound muffler for 987S

Recommended Posts

I've been looking for the good muffler which means loud & good sound. I tried Fabspeed but it was not loud enough. Does anyone know good one??

(I put my topic on 986 forum by mistake! Sorry)

I think the PSE is great. But, if FabSpeed was not loud enough for you, then you might not like it. You might want something that is more for a track set-up but it won't be street legal due to noise restrictions.

Just to warn you - your warranty becomes void if you fit an aftermarket exhaust. However if you fit the PSE by an authorised Porsche dealer, then it might still be valid. Don't know if it is relevant to your case, but just thought I'd put my 2 bits in! (I suffered as when I went to the dealer with an RMS leak, they refused to repair under warranty just because I had an aftermarket cat-back muffler (go figure)!!!) Nowadays Porsche is being really strict about under-warranty repairs.

I don't think this is correct. They can't void the entire warranty, unless they can prove the aftermarket exhaust caused the RMS to fail. I suggest you start a new thread, so we can discuss this more in detail.

I just had a cat-back AWE Tuning system installed on my 987 Boxster S. The system adds almost 20 FWHP and sounds GREAT! If you stay off the throttle, it sounds almost stock, but get in the throttle and it sings. Had I not chosen the AWE system, I would have gone with REMUS.

Exhaust sound is subjective, meaning, what sounds GREAT to me may not sound good to you. Try and hear the systems first hand before you buy...

Did you dyno your car before and after the exhaust change? Are you sure about the 20 FWHP?

I am with White987S on this one.

20 RWHP increase with just exhaust - I don't think so...

A dealership will try to charge you for 4-6 hours. The actual job will take less than 3 hours, if they don't connect the on/off switch. 3-4 hours if the switch is wired in.

Well, sure. They are a "for profit" business. Shop around. How much do they want to charge you for the exhaust? And labor?

You can buy the exhaust from Sunset Porsche Imports (one of our sponsors) for about $1,800.

I was charged 4 hours labor last year from a dealership. They used the warranty labor rate of $125 per. The normal shop rate is closer to $200. It took them a lot longer than 4 hours becuase they ran into a few problems, since my was the very first 987S they did in 2007. I supplied my own parts bought from Sunset.

Yeah, definitely I better shop around. It seems to be better to buy it from Sunset Porsche Imports. Thanks for all about information.

I have a 2008 987 S Limited Edition equipped with a Tubi exhaust that sounds and performs great and matches the car aggressive exterior.

I have a good one. The Capistro. a real two stage exhaust system. Quiet when comming home late - realy like a GT3 when going to work in the morning.

Look at this: http://www.teamspeed.com/forums/boxster-ca...aust-video.html

All the best
