CDR220 Faceplate Replacement

Recommended Posts

I just purchased a 2001 Boxster 2.7 (currently being shipped) and the faceplate is missing from the radio. Does anyone know if these are interchangeable as there are a few listings on ebay for the faceplate only at reasonable pries. Will I also have to track down a code? Alternativley, will a CDR23 deck fit in the dash of the '01 model year and be compatible with the wiring?

Thanks,

David.

A model year 2001 should have a 220 Becker radio. 2003-2004 is the fiber optic 23 and I don't think you want to mess around with it with a 2001.

When the Becker message board was working they said you can swap faceplates on the 220 radio from another 220 radio. Becker also sells faceplates. To be sure find another 1999-2002 car and borrow the faceplate and try it in your car. Once you have the serial number for the radio Loren can guess the code.

I'f got a radio (that probably doesn't work) and amp out of a 99. no use for it but could use a trunk rear "Boxter" emblem. PM me we'll work somthing out, be happy to be rid off it .

I have a spare faceplate for the CDR220 that I bought just before my car caught fire...never put it in. If you find out they're interchangeable....which I believe they are, email me at fishoncj@aol.com. Don't mess around with the CDR23...it's a fibre optics setup which requires an entirely different setup...

You are a newcomer so you dont have the PM capability.
