How do I remove the entry gaurds....

The passenger sill is easy. Just remove the rubber mat and the two screws underneath. The just pry it out with your plastic spatula.

The driver side has three plastic plugs on the seat side of the sill that need to be removed to get to the hex bolts (you may need to push the carpet down a little to get to them). Once these are out carefully lift and disconnect the electrical and hood release cables.

Loren,

I was able to remove the piece that holds the umbrella.. but the entry gaurd with the Carrera writing was not coming out..

In the middle there was a little slot where you could get under it.. I pulled pretty good but quit before I screwed something

up....Im replacing it so if it does break its no biggy... just thought you or Tool Pants may have a tip before I yank away again!!

 Sorry, I thought you wanted to do something with the sill storage and controls. If you want to remove the sill plates (i.e. Carrera) they are just held on with double-sided tape (and have nothing to do with the sill storage). So, dental floss and a hair dryer usually work well. Be sure to mark the locations with tape (or something) so that when you put the new ones on you don't have to measure for centering.

Bob,

The drivers side lining changed in MY01 so it is slightly different. The hood and and engine actuators went electric instead of mechanical.

I need to know whether you have Comfort Seats (Option M537/538). Also, what color you want it in if not (A03) black.

The plugs only come in black: 999 703 443 40

Loren,

Based on your comment, re: changed in MY01, does the procedure for removing and replacing the sill change? It would appear to be very much the same but I hate to make assumptions. This would appear to be a relatively simple task. Do you know what size the fasteners, I assume these are hex bolts, but again I do not want to assume.

I have the standard issue seats, black leather and heated. I do not have access to the option codes at the moment but can supply this information if it is critical.

Thanks for all of your help!

Yes, I will need to know for sure about the comfort seats as they get a different part number (more switches in the base).

Removal is pretty much the same loosen (they just need to be loosened not removed) the hex head screws and lift up to disconnect the electrical connections.

Loren,

I went back to the original window sticker and can confirm: standard leather seats with power backrest and options including black full leather, power seat package and heated front seats. I hope this provides you the required information.
