I bought my '97 Boxster in the Fall of 2007 with 105,000 miles and currently have 134,000 on it. The only repair I've made was replacement of the coolant reservoir and a cracked oil filler tube which was giving me O2 sensor faults.

I bought ny 99 996 c2 about 3 years ago with57k on it. Today it has 129k and counting. I've put alot of money into the car to keep it in top running condition but I've yet to see a failure of a major part. To date the most expensive repair has been a clutch and I've installed two so far along with a new flywheel. This car has been a blast and I'll be a Porsche owner for life. :)

You see! Drive the crap out of these cars on a daily basis and they'll go forever. These cars don't like to sit still, not even for a few days.

Mine is a 2000 996C2 purchased with a new engine at 30K in 01/2007. It's got 76K miles on it now, out of which 5K are hard track miles. I run Mobil 1 15W50 and change very regularly (every 2 DE's). No problems so far. I am looking to do the IMS retrofit this winter though.

Bought my 99 Tiptronic with 84k miles in August of 07. Used it as daily driver (sales) and it has 128k. The tranny slips between 2nd and 3rd, but has done that for over a year. No major repairs, only the minor DIY ones below with estimated costs:

O2 sensor: (this failed from coolant due to cracked coolant tank) $120

Coolant tank: $500

Oil changes & filters: $220

Brake Pads (rear two times, front once): $260

Valve for coolant going to transmission: $100

Ignition switch: $30

Rear trunk strut (old ones weak and I figured replacing one of them was good enough): $20

Spark plugs: $50

Fuel Filter: $30

Air Filter: $18

Misc Bulbs: $40

Waxes, Washes, etc: $200

Tires & Alignment: (bought N rated, but definitely going with Sumitumos for $90 each next time): $1200

Finland was the country of origin of my Boxster. I thought this might be interesting to keep track of as I've heard the Boxster made in Finland were / are higher quality than those made in Germany. Has anyone heard of the Finland vs. Germany quality difference?

98 boxster built 22 dec 97 in finland.

Bought new and have now reached 127,777 miles today.

No major failures thus far. water pump, AOS, and starter at 95K.

IMS Retrofit planned during the winter break. RMS & clutch at the same time although the small leak I had in the past stopped a year ago and never reappeared.

The car is slowly working its way towards BSR.

I am looking to hear from other high mileage owners. How many miles does your Boxster have and what have you put into it to keep it going.

This is actually my 1st post!!

I got my '99 Boxster on eBay in early 2004 with 64K miles. And up until someone rear ended me, and sandwiched me into the car in front of me on Dec 23rd, it was my daily driver, putting about 4000+ miles a month on it for the past 2 years. It had 215,000 miles! :D I would've driven that car for another 100K, easily!

- Replaced water pump twice

- oil changes every 15-20K miles (Mobil1 15W-50)

- Coolant reservoir replaced due to leak

- rear tires every 25-30K miles , front tires every 50-60K miles

- driver side window regulator

- pads/shoes/rotors twice

- plastic top had a few cracks that I covered up with Liquid Nails

- rear half axle replaced

- of course, air filters, etc replaced @ various times.

Overall, great experience with a very fun car....I'll be the proud owner of a 2002 Boxster S in the next couple days. B)

Alas, my dear beloved 1998 986 was at 98k and going along great, bought it in 2006 with 65k, and unfortunately totalled her 2 weeks ago. Thought I'd have her for life. Long story short, was cut off, hit and slid up on a cement curb, car slid a ways on it, insurnace declared totalled due to underframe being bent all the way, requiring major structural work.

Not to add a sorry story to this string of great stories, ut to add that, just to add, like like most of you, I was pouring on the miles without any major problems and enjoying the heck out if this wonderful car.

Have since scaled down $ wise and gone the used Mercedes E320 way, which is better for by Real Estate Business, but BOY do I miss my boxy, especially with the temp warming up here in Charleston.

Sigh.

But there will come a time when I"ll get another one, had a 1977 911s, not a 98 986, ot's in my blood....:)

I did well with the insurance company, kept the salvage comensation amount and sold her off myself to a local Porsche specialist shop, Autometrix here in Charleston, that's owned by racing fans, they are going to fix it and use her as a track car, around the South East.

So she is in good hands and will back on the road, ionstead of scrapped for metal.

On another note, please see my signature, I did get to keep my entire audio system, which is a very advanced installation, and I have the entire system ready to sell at a reasonable price. It's almost turn key, with all components, inlcuding the difficult to reporduce custom made dash speakers with high end JL Audio german version 3 ways (with door 6")

Subwoofer is fantastic too, and 5 chanel amp an easy install. Rear enclosure is black, as is carpet cover ofer the sub enclosure.

If you know anyone looking for a complete audio upgrade, send them to me, to do this system form scratch would be $2k+

Needless to say, I was blown away at how fun the car was. Since then, I have performed many labor of love tasks to keep it running. These tasks include a generator, belts, AOS, MAF, Brakes and rotors, Fuel filter, Glass rear window replacement top, and lubrication for both the tranny and crankcase. All this would not be possible without the help from an amazing forum Renntech! Hopefully I can get another 100K out of her.

I am new to the forum. I have a Black 1999 Boxter with an automatic and 17 inch factory wheels. I purchased it in Sep 09, from a Lexus Dealer in Houston for $8,700.00 with 104,000 miles (a trade-in). It needed tires so I purchased a set of Sumitomo HTR Z IIs at a great price from Tire Rack ($61.00 for each front and $81.00 for each rear tire). It is my daily driver and has 112,800 miles on it now.

I've had the local Porsche dealer change the air filter, oil & filter, replace the ribbed belt and replace the water pump.

At 115,000 miles I will personally change the oil & filter and install new spark plugs. The parts came in from Pelican earlier this week.

I plan on replacing the stock muffler with a muffler being sold by a company in Plano, TX via Ebay originally for about $550 (chrome, round dual tips). Right now it is on sale for about $450. I don't expect to gain any horse-power or torque, but I do want a deeper exhaust sound.

100k miles just happened to me in March.

I bought the car a year and half ago after my wife brought it home as a birthday present. It had 75K miles with a complete service record, looked immaculate and was owned and maintained by an engineer. No I did not keep it then, the local ford dealer had it on the lot and my wife got them to let her take it home and park it in the garage with a big red bow on the top.

Needless to say I was shocked when I opened the garage door that evening. I wound up driving it around for the evening before I had t give it back. I actually bought the car about a month later after watching it sit on their lot and with the economy spirolling down got it for a good price. Since then, I have done some hacks on the car and some minor appearance upgrades (see signature line. The only "ugh-oh" maintenance moment cam at about 97K when I noticed a small oil leak on the garage that wasn't there the day before. This resulted in the RMS being replaced, and since it was open and the engine dropped. A motor mount replacement, new clutch plate, a water pump and oh yeah an oil change. So far that has been the only "Big" repair. I was expecting something to happen as some point anyway from my reading, so it was not a huge surprise. Other than that, it has been a blast as my daily driver (replacing my 914) - as seen by the 25K miles I have put on so far. This last weekend we got a chance to tour the back country roads of San Diego with the PCA out of San Diego along with 60+ other Porsches. mt. palomar That has been one of the most enjoyable days of driving ever. I am sure there are more to come - time to add that ROW-M030 package and........ :D

Clicked over to 100K on October 18. Now approaching 125K. This is my everyday drive and love it. Have to go 45minutes to and from work every day. Can't think of a better way to enjoy the sun.

I just hit 100K a few weeks ago! What did I do to celebrate? Put more miles on it and drove down to San Louis Obisbo with my wife on Highway 1. (if you know CA, you know this is a beautiful drive).

I bought my 2000 Boxster with 90,000mi last November, thats a little over 10,000 mi in 7 months (yes i drive it a lot). One thing I noticed with Porsches' is that they like to be driven. I know I haven't had the car too long, but I haven't had any major problems.

The only things I had to do to the car are pretty normal for Boxsters :Engine mount, rear track arms, wheel bearings.

Its a good thing that I work on the car myself, the services I did myself only cost me $500, for all 3! (due to parts).

I truly love driving the Boxster and hope its lasts me for a while

Bought it used in mid-2006 with 58K miles on it.

2006 thru 2008 were smooth years - regular oil changes, tires etc.

2009 was AC replacement (I live in Phoenix so it is a must), Engine mounts/cv boots/axles lubes etc cost a total of approx $3000.

2010 has the 90k mile service and had to replace the top's transmission and AOS, this week so far, pushing a bit over $3000.

I have heard of Boxsters easily push 180K miles+, at my mechanic's (independent Porsche only shop of over 35 years) , if maintained well.

I'm going to aim to shoot past that - love this little fella :drive:

I just hit 100k yesterday.

I bought my car three(3) years ago last July. I am the second owner and purchased it with 47K on the clock.

Other than taking the car in to get my OBC turn on or installing a new set of tires, I have yet had to take it to a dealer or shop for service. I commute each day about 145 miles round trip and it is the absolute best part of my day. Just recently put the hard top on which was hard to do. Expecting first snow of the season tomorrow and I plan to drive it every day rain, snow or shine. Looking forward though to the return of Spring!

My first post, I bought in to the 100K club this fall, buying our 2002 Boxter S off eBay, my wife and I had been without a convertable after selling the 57 MGA a few years ago.

Wind in the face is addictive, after casual eyeballing all ragtops she pronounced "we need a Boxter"

This meant buying a !!! PORSCHE !!!! and as a ole school BMW 2002 freak, 12 years of pro rally in BMW's (2002, GrpA M3 and M318ti) and daily driver of a 03

Mini Cooper S ........a quick march to the dark side. Little did I know!!.......Ah....Lapis Blue/Blue top and Tan leather, 6 gears forward...induction roar next to your left ear....ye haaaa

I am a very happy convert and very much enjoy driving and working on this wonderful machine.

Bought car with 133k on the clock from PCA racer and have put on tires,motor mount and oil/filter stuff.

Now have 115,000 on odo and will be doing pads (noisy Pagids to Cool Carbons) remaining fluids and silly rear clips for shift cables.

Had hopes dealer could give me more details on history (BMW does) but I know she began life in Ca.

Looking into a set of Hakkapillitas to see how it flies in snow/ice

Hi, My name is Randy and joined this forum just a couple of days ago as you can see. excellent forum. :renntech: I just pruchased a 1999 Boxster on Christmas eve. Merry Christmas to me. I bcame a member of the 100K club the day I bought it. It had 104,500 on it.

It has some minor issues that I will be addressing as time passes. I used to build scale R/C planes. But after 18 years of continuous building. I became burnt out. The Boxster is going to be the replacement hobby and I will be working on it a little every weekend until I get it up to an acceptable level to me.

I used to own a 1986 944 and have wanted to get another Porsche for sometime. :drive:
