When I did the DIY, I found any variety of extensions were helpful. I didn't have a 4" but made due with other pieces.

+1. I think I had about 3 smaller extensions to get to them.

I used multiple short extensions, it was definitely a pain in the rear to change out the plugs (must have relatively small hands).

I ended up removing the rear bumber and mufflers to get good access to the most difficult plug holes.

The trick to making this job easier is removing the mufflers not the bumper.

+1 on removing the mufflers, otherwise you may need a small indonesian child to reach the rear passenger side one for you.. :censored:

When I replaced the spark plugs on my 99/996, I shortened a hex head/allen head to remove the top hex bolt on the coil packs, the allen rench ended up looking like a small L. For me removing the coils was the worst part of the job.
