Hello guys does anyone have a laser jammer installed on there 996. Radar detectors are no match for police laser. I have a Valentine 1 that does detect laser, but once it warns you it's to late. So I have reserched the Blinder M25 Extreme. It seems to jam all police laser. (not radar) I do mostly highway driving and am taking a trip to the West Coast (2000 miles of highway one way :drive: ) and I would like to cruise at 90 mph. If you have a laser jammer on your 996 please let me know how you like it and if it is worth the money. Thanks

Don't worry about speed at that level crossing the dakotas, MT, WY, ID, but once entering WA.....

10MPH below posted speed is the only "safe" way through AZ.

I don't have personal experience with these so I am open to being wrong. From what I have heard and read by people who don't sell them, laser jammers supposedly don't work. Your best bet is to hope there is someone in front of you being spotted first.

Here's a place to start if you have not been there already.

http://www.radardetector.net/forums/

Light is not regulated by the FCC, so jamming lidar is generally not against the law. Some states ban any warning device, however.

All radar/lidar combo detectors mostly inform you that it is too late to brake cuz you've been lased. There are light jammers that are said to work. They do need to be mounted low.

And remember the laser user wants to aim at a flat surface, so get rid of the PORSCHE plate the dealer gave you. And tilt your state plate up or down if you have one.

Now of course I may be wrong about this, and if I am I'll skulk away quietly, but arent laser jammers illegal in just about all states? Not that something like that would stop me, but...

I just checked and I'm wrong. Skulking quietly now.

As a AZ local I can atest to this photo radar is really bad here and getting worse since it generates allot of money for the state. You are good to go if going through the reservations still have not had to many problems.

I have an Escort SRX. Several times it's gone off when I was enough above the limit that I could have gotten a ticket. It seemed to work.

The instructions say it will work to within 400' of the source, at which point, the source will over power the jammer. If you have your wits about you, it is good to slow down, then push the disable button so the source gets a reading asap.

Yet, I tend to drive in a gray area above the limit where I might or might not get a ticket and use the detector to help me move quickly into a zone where it's unlikely. If you're the only target and you're significantly above the limit, there may be nothing that can help you. I think that's what's drawn me to flying. No getting caught behind a motor home or minivan, no speed limits (for my airplane) and actually being in 3 dimensions is liberating. On the ground, I just sigh & get back in line.

Just driving with your high beams and fogs on will give you enough time to slow down if your laser detector goes off. Driving with high beams and fogs on can also make you stick out.

Best way to not get a ticket is not to speed. Next best is don't exceed 9mph over, next best is pick a rabbit (the fastest car on the road) and follow him about 1/4 -1/2 mile back.

MEGA Dittos on that one. Jammer, detector, aircraft surveillence, NOTHING will help you in AZ because the AZHP will dream up your speeding ticket based on how fast you 'appear' to be going. Many of my friends have been stopped, but their V1 and/or escort radars never went off. A perfect example is from a road trip my buddies and I took, while cresting a hill, a trooper did not have his radar on and started fabricating citations after pulling us over: 911 - 116mph but was written up for 86, Lambo - 160mph but written up for 100 (the trooper had to guess because his radar wasn't on, whcih is why we didn't detect him) and get this, in a smaller town a VW R32 got a ticket for doing 30 in a 35.

Entrapment is legal in the state of AZ, I would go around at all cost...especially if you are takin your Porsche.

They actually have high-dollar speeding ticket attorneys in Phoenix...that's how bad the problems are there. Worse yet, I had a buddy that got a ticket for 87 in a 65, charged with criminal speed which is a class b misdemeanor. Another got busted for 12 over on the highway, failed to pay the fine by mail...later had his TX license suspended and the $180 ticket mysteriously jumped to a total of $975 once all the extraneous fees were attached. He had to pay it to have his license reinstated.

The best way to travel through AZ is either by plane or Toyota Prius. In a 911 you will get cited. One of the attorneys in Phoenix explained AZ traffic law to me briefly: If it's a european car and out-of-state, it WILL be cited. They also have photo radar on the highways. Another example: I have driven clear through AZ (to SD and LA), several times, in a Scion xB and a Toyota Highlander at speeds over 90mph without getting cited...with no radar detector...a single trip on a 2-lane highway, I got popped in my 911, which not two weeks prior I was traveling at excessive speed in an xB with no problems. And I swear the cop was in an area with no reception so I couldn't dial an attorney or warn others.

Sorry to sound so vigilant but in my opinion, the problem there is quite bad, and definitely a monetary threat to out-of-state travelers. So honestly, laser jammer or not, i really don't think it would help passing through AZ.

Many of the interstates in AZ are often at 75MPH, meaning if you go 80MPH you are fine. I drive 15k miles per year on AZ highways, keep it at 80, and never get pulled over.

Speeding is illegal, so why would anyone that speeds worry about the legality of a jammer?

To be caught speeding you must be speeding through an area where they have a radar or worse yet be speeding when the laser is pointed at you...To be caught with the jammer all it takes is is go through that same area and keep the jammer on! The interference caused by these devices is easily recognizable.

I also bet the fine for carrying a jammer (where it is illegal) and the PIA is much higher than the average speed ticket and the average PIA you get for that.

Just some good old speculation!

All the best

Gus

radar jammers are illegal, but as far as I remember they can't make light illegal. anyway, see my post earlier, free easy way to give you a little time to slow down when your laser detector goes off. with all the drl's on cars now you really won't even stand out.

As far as the cameras, does the Photo Blocker Paint work? I have always thought if a ticket was to be written it should be written by a Police Officer and not a camera.

According to the show "Myth Busters" it does not work. see here
