Carfax check help please!

Recommended Posts

Dear Enthusiasts,

Was wondering if I could trouble you for a quick carfax check, in light of the current economic downturn, I’ve got my sight fixed on an 05 C2S, both its interior and exterior remains beautifully finished, however the seller claims that the odometer was reset at around 24k miles, the odometer is now showing around 7k miles. Was wondering if I could verify his mileage claims through carfax and such. Also hoping is to verify if all recalls had been performed on this car. Here is the VIN:

WP0AB29935S741895

Thanks and much obliged!

:welcome:

If are really interested in this car then I suggest you spend the money on a Carfax and a PPI (Pre-Purchase Inspection).

I don't think Carfax can tell you if the recalls were done - only what is needed.

For this car they say:

" Manufacturer recall issued

#A601 Tailpipe cover, 3.8L

Manufacturer Voluntary Service Action issued

#W556 Voluntary Service Action - Lid lock

Manufacturer Voluntary Service Action issued

#W731 Voluntary Service Action - PURGE FAN 05"

Sievlde,

You can get a rough estimate of the car's mileage by using a PIWIS to access the DME. You can read out the operating hours and the average speed and, by multiplying these two figures together, get an estimate of the total miles. However, this approach is only valid if the DME is the original. And, as fast as these cars can go, the average speed will probabily only be about 30-33 MPH (48-53KPH).

It might also be interesting to know why the odometer was "re-set".
