Heated seats only work on passenger side

Recommended Posts

Okay, so since I have bought my 986 (about 4 months ago) I have been unable to use the heated seats on the drivers side. The passenger side works perfectly, in both high and low. However, when I press the driver side heated seat button, the LED flashes red for a fraction of a second, and then goes off, regardless of how long or short I press it. I checked the fuses related to it, but they were all fine. Has anyone heard of this problem before? Or can anyone tell me where to start as far as fixing it is concerned?

Kojiro:

The symptoms that you describe point directly to the seat heater relay under the driver's seat, with a VERY slim possibility that the switch itself is suspect.

One easy way to pinpoint the problem is to swap the seat heater relay under the passenger's seat with the suspect one under the driver's seat. The relays are identical, except that the metal bracket that holds each relay to its seat frame are mirror images of each other.

Do a search here and you will find a thread where I described the repair in detail. If I find it first, I'll post the link.

Regards, Maurice.
